Position Summary:
Perform daily cleaning tasks for resident rooms, common areas, restrooms, offices, wellness areas, and other designated areas as assigned. Maintain community and regulatory standards for cleanliness and infection control.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensures the CAPLICO Core Values and Code of Conduct are adhered to at all times.
- Ensures compliance with Resident Rights and HIPAA policies at all times.
- Performs basic cleaning functions in assigned areas following established community schedules and protocols.
- Basic cleaning protocol includes:
o Dusts horizontal surfaces.
o Empties wastebaskets, removes waste, relines basket.
o Damp-wipes or dusts all furniture.
o Cleans and polishes metal, plastic, and porcelain fixtures in bathrooms.
o Mops and sanitizes floors of rooms and offices.
o Spot cleans walls and windows. Polishes metal surfaces. Replenishes room supplies such as toilet paper, tissues, soap, etc.
o Vacuums carpets and spot cleans as needed.
- Performs heavier cleaning functions as assigned. These may include shampooing carpets, cleaning windows, wiping down walls and wiping light fixtures.
- Assists in cleaning of emergency spills when requested. Follows all infection control measures and uses Standard Precautions.
- Utilizes only community-approved cleaning products. Follows product instructions for effective use and follows appropriate product safety instructions. Stores cleaning products in compliance with community policy and regulatory requirements.
- Maintains and stores cleaning equipment properly after use and recommends repairs or replacement as needed.
- Observes and reports the need for repairs to community equipment, furniture, building and fixtures to the housekeeping director or designated manager.
- Perform other duties as reasonably assigned by your Supervisor or the Executive Director.

- Works in all areas of the community.
- Moves frequently during working hours.
- Is subject to frequent interruptions and may need to reschedule cleaning activities.
- Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances.
- Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, personnel and visitors.
- Works beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary, as well as in other positions as needed.
- Is subject to call-back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post disaster, etc.).
- Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the work day, as well as reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants.
- Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB, COVID19 and the AIDS and Hepatitis viruses.
- May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
Specific Requirements
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Must meet minimum age requirements as set forth by state and federal regulatory guidelines.
- Must be able to obtain criminal history clearance.
- Must comply with all training requirements.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions, to follow instructions, and to accept constructive criticism.
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
- Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and maintain the appearance of housekeeping areas, must perform regular inspections of resident rooms/units for sanitation, order, safety, and proper performance of assigned duties.
- Must be willing to work harmoniously with other personnel as well as be willing to handle residents based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning.
- Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing housekeeping practices.
- Must be able to follow written and oral instructions concerning the mixing of cleaning compounds, liquids, disinfecting solutions, etc.
- Must be able to relate information concerning a resident’s condition.
- Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
- Must be able to operate washers and dryers, vacuum cleaner, call bell/intercom/telephone systems, and other housekeeping equipment deemed necessary and appropriate.
Physical and Sensory Requirements (With or Without the Aid of Mechanical Devices):
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the work day.
- Must be able to Ability to understand and speak English at a level which allows the safe, efficient performance of the job.
- Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
- Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
- Must function independently and have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively with the residents, personnel.
- Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this community which include a medical and physical examination.
- Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and, at times, hostile people within the community.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds. Occasional carrying of cleaning supplies. Must be able to push/pull up to 100 pounds.
- May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
