What are the responsibilities and job description for the Park Laborer position at Village of Glen Carbon?
Duties for the position include but are not limited to performing various landscaping duties and, grass mowing, weed eating and leaf blowing. Performs minimal repairs to playground equipment. Maintains restrooms and cleans daily. Sweeps and hoses floors, cleans and sanitizes fixtures, disposes of trash and debris and empties trash barrels.
Assists with preparing and maintaining athletic fields. Assists the Village Gardner with landscaping operations and maintains grounds by preparing and grading terrain, applying fertilizers, seeding, sodding lawns, transplanting shrubs growing, planting, and maintaining flower beds and baskets throughout the Village. Also, assists with snow removal at municipal buildings and facilities as needed. May assist in snow plowing operations, so CDL a plus.
Qualified candidates must have a minimum of high school diploma or equivalent. Degree in Landscaping or related field preferred. Prior parks or landscaping experience preferred. Knowledge of herbicides and plant knowledge a plus. Must possess a valid IL driver’s license with a clean driving record.
The successful candidate may be required to obtain an Herbicide/Pesticide Operator license through the Illinois Department of Agriculture within the first year of hire
The Village of Glen Carbon offers an outstanding benefits package and salary is set by union contract. Starting rate is after a 90 day probationary period. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment tests.
