Surrogacy Agency Director

Village Surrogacy
Chapel Hill, NC Part Time | Full Time
POSTED ON 5/6/2024 CLOSED ON 5/14/2024

What are the responsibilities and job description for the Surrogacy Agency Director position at Village Surrogacy?

Innovative and growing surrogacy agency is seeking a director!

At Village Surrogacy, our core values center around the concept of the “Village” –everyone helps each other, and all people and all contributions are valued and respected. We embrace diversity, inclusivity, and the notion that love creates a family. We love playing a part in helping grow families, and we are looking to add a full-time director to our team to help us continue our growth.

First things first-- What is Surrogacy? Surrogacy is a process in which a woman carries a child for parent(s) who aren’t able to carry a pregnancy to term. In gestational surrogacy (which is the type of surrogacy that Village assists with), the child is not genetically related to the surrogate. Surrogacy agencies (like Village) match intended parents with surrogates and assist with their journeys.

Now, back to our position: We’re looking for a rockstar Villager to add to our growing team. We’re calling this position a “director” of the agency because you’ll be the person in charge of the day-to-day operations for the agency, with your primary focus being keeping the trains on the tracks and helping us grow (both internally and with new clients).

The right person for this position is:

  • Empathetic, compassionate, and excited to play a role in growing families. Having a positive disposition is also helpful—most of our parents have been through a lot on their journey to parenthood so we try to make their journey a little (or a lot!) brighter.
  • Supportive and enthusiastic about surrogacy. You may not know a lot about surrogacy (yet), but we want someone who is excited to learn about this unique industry and help us continue to grow into a leader in the field.
  • Supportive of all types of parents and families, including LGBTQ intended parents.
  • Customer-service oriented and super responsive (email, social media messages, calls, etc.)
  • Creative- Experience with graphics programs, content creation, etc. is a big-time plus. Do you know how to navigate social media ads? Even better!
  • Very organized and great with follow-up
  • Self-driven and proactive- we’re investing in this position to find someone who can help us not only keep the “trains on the tracks,” but also help us “level up” as an agency. So, if you’re not actively working with our Villagers, we will want your ideas about ways to make our team more efficient and better organized as we continue to grow.
  • Excited to talk to new people; great at listening; and has excellent verbal and written communication skills – the total package!
  • Willing to embrace a variety of different tasks and adapt to new challenges.
  • Adept at social media- a big part of our interaction with surrogates is done via social media and we use social media as part of our marketing efforts. We need someone who is comfortable with social media and excited to embrace (and teach us) how to use it in new ways to help Village.
  • Competent with all traditional computer software (word, adobe, excel, etc.)

No two days will ever be the same in this position. We’ll ask for your help with whatever the needs of the day are—and we hope that you can roll with it and stay engaged and excited. Typical duties include:

  • Corresponding and talking with prospective surrogates and intended parents;
  • Overseeing other team members;
  • Keeping track of status and open items in multiple journeys—and following up on open items and next steps (and following up some more)
  • Assisting with background checks, insurance reviews, and other screening procedures
  • Collecting medical records
  • Coordinating with physicians, psychologists, attorneys, and other professionals involved in the surrogacy process
  • Arranging travel for surrogates to attend medical appointments
  • Attending events and appointments (occasionally) with our intended parents and surrogates, as requested.
  • Helping with our forms, document creation, and marketing efforts
  • Managing our social media and/or working with external marketing
  • Surrogate and intended parent outreach (sending gifts, checking in, organizing events, etc.)

Details about the position:

  • Location: We have office space at Industrious in Chapel Hill. We’re hoping to build a permanent space in southern Chapel Hill.
  • In office vs. remote: This position is an in-person position Mon-Thursday, with some flexibility to work from home occasionally if needed. We celebrate remote Fridays. So, unless you need to come in that day, you’re welcome to work from home.
  • We’re interested in bringing someone on board for 35-40 hours per week, depending on your schedule and needs. The vast majority of those hours will be in the traditional work day hours (between 9am and 5pm), but you’ll also be needed for some light weekend/weeknight correspondence and interaction after hours.
  • Pay rate will be based on a starting salary of $55,000 for 40 hours per week. You’ll also receive bonuses related to marketing efforts and normal year-end bonuses/adjustments. If 40 hours isn’t the right fit, but you’re up for 30-35 hours instead, let’s talk.
  • Long term fit: This is a director position and we’re preparing to grow a team under you. So, you’ll need to know how to do everything (at least to start), and you’ll be the point person for helping us add team members in specific areas in the coming year(s).

If this sounds like a position that may be a great fit for you, we’d love to connect.
