What You'll Do
The Compliance Engineer supports our uninterruptable power supply, UPS accessory, surge protection and electric vehicle charging products. This position is responsible for the coordination, execution, and maintenance of product safety and compliance before, during and after product development.
Meet aggressive timelines, work with other functional roles to gain inputs required for their work and strongly influence outside service providers to achieve results.
Collaborate with project management, product management, development engineering, test engineering, and operational teams around the globe to advise, inform, test, and coordinate both the activities of our own lab and contracted NRTLs.
Preemptively communicate and plan for what requirements are necessary for equipment based upon the geographic location it will be sold to. Communicate this information to our design team and business leaders. Work with design team and validation/agency testing to ensure all criteria for plan is attained.
Maintain certifications and communicate changes for safety and environmental requirements to business stakeholders.
Develop unique ways of uncovering product compliance issues before products are built. Bring product design issues and solutions to the fore front of discussion during product design reviews.
Analyze new and proposed requirements from geographical, national, and local code writing organizations to determine how they could impact products and therefore recommends changes to them to stay in compliance.
Develop and maintain status in UL Client Data Test program and other global database to meet project requirements.
Required (Basic) Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution
Minimum of four (4) years direct work experience in a regulatory compliance role
Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with safety and legal requirements for information technology equipment, hazardous material handling and transportation.
Experience in Electromagnetic compatibility (for safety, emissions and immunity).
Experience with product safety certification with leading NRTL's (UL, Intertek, TUV).
Experience working with emerging environmental, FCC, TSCA and ROHS requirements.
SKILLS AND CERTIFICATIONS [note: bold skills and certification are required]
Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering OR EET.
Experience with product safety certification with leading NRTL's (UL, Intertek, TUV).
Minimum of four (4) years direct work experience in a regulatory compliance role
