VDOT’s Right of Way Division is seeking a team member to coordinate utility relocations necessary on highway projects, ensuring all relocations and relocation adjustment plan designs are prepared and accomplished in accordance with state and federal procedures. The selected candidate will conduct utility field inspections and participate in field reviews; participate in pre-advertisement meetings and pre-construction conferences to provide technical assistance; and meet with utility companies for proposed highway projects; interpret and review highway plans to determine utility conflicts; determine cost responsibility and easement requirements; and review bridge attachment requests and wetland permit applications to VDOT.
This position will prepare utility cost estimate studies for highway projects from preliminary design to approved plan using software programs; and review all utility company plans and estimates for compliance with federal and state policies for acceptable engineering design, accounting procedures and construction methods. Additionally the selected candidate will verify the accuracy of utility progress bills, final bills and analyze cost differences between bills and approved estimates then submit billings for payment.
