Title: Assistant Director, Financial Planning & AnalysisAgency: Finance & Administration-20Location: RadfordFLSA: Exempt/ Not eligible for overtimeHiring Range: Commensurate with ExperienceFull Time or Part Time: Full TimeAdditional DetailJob Description:Reporting to the University Budget Director within the Office of Budget and Financial Planning (OBFP), the Assistant Director, Financial Planning and Analysis under the guidance of the Director is responsible for directing all University financial planning and analysis functions, transforming operational and enrollment data into insights for senior management in support of short and long-term financial goals. The Assistant Director of FP&A will be responsible for preparing and providing timely and relevant financial analysis, key performance indicators (KPIs), business plans, and working models to identify opportunities and gaps needed to make informed business decisions. The Assistant Director will analyze current and past University financial performance and trends to determine present and future performance and provide reporting of the University's revenues and expenditures through various models and forecasting. Through transparency and collaboration, builds cross-functional working relationships as a customer service agent to all internal and external stakeholders and provides financial reporting, guidance and leadership to all areas of the organization. The Assistant Director motivates and provides positive leadership to the OBFP team. mentors, coaches, supports and provides guidance to OBFP team members in their roles, career path and professional development, while fostering an optimistic culture of excellence, collaboration, continuous improvement, and continued learning.Minimum Qualifications:The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience developing and preparing budgets for a large scale organization; experience in a higher education setting and preparation of decision packages preferred. Ability to track, read, interpret, and analyze funding policies and legislation and make recommendations on actions needed to ensure sufficient funding is available to address requirements. A strong background in the knowledge of higher education operations and the Virginia legislative and appropriation processes is preferred. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills; demonstrated ability to write a concise, well-thought-out manner. Ability to respond to inquiries from internal and external constituents in a professional, timely, and concise manner. Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data and knowledge of automated financial accounting systems and Microsoft Office software; knowledge of Banner, eVA, PBS, CARS preferred. Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, adopt to and facilitate change, and to work independently or as part of a team. Strong ability to plan, implement and direct projects and programs affecting areas of responsibility.Preferred Qualifications:Preference given for a Master's degree with experience in higher education finance or related field involving budget or financial analyses; familiarity with public policies affecting state colleges and universities; understanding of Virginia's legislative process; and experience in preparing financial forecasts in large complex organizations utilizing an ERP system such as Banner.#J-18808-Ljbffr
