What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Admissions/Community Engagement position at Virginia VA Veterans Care Center?

Conducts effective sales calls with designated targeted referral sources, to include physicians, hospitalists, insurance providers, case managers, social workers, and a variety of other traditional and non-traditional entities. Coordinates effective education in-services to referral sources regarding VVCC”s nursing and rehabilitative capabilities, products and services in meeting the specific needs of their resident population, and assures that referral volume is substantial enough to meet/exceed the Center’s budgeted occupancy and revenue goals. Oversees the development and maintenance of a monthly marketing plan for VVCC. The plan must specifically include objectives for achieving occupancy and quality mix targets, and demonstrates effective implementation of tactics to meet or exceed the objectivities. Assists in promotional scripting for inquires and tours of the VVCC. Oversees the distribution of all designed collateral material in conjunction with the Director of Admissions and Marketing. Promotes interdepartmental team dynamics and cooperation for efficient customer service in order to enhance census promotion. Coordinates outreach activities with other DVS service lines working in the VVCC catchment area to help build awareness of VVCC programs and services, and, when appropriate, to promote other DVS services and programs (benefit services, VVFS, etc.) Achieves and/or exceeds Center objectives, including monthly census goals. Tracks daily and evaluates the status of occupancy and census mix targets within the Center. Secures and expedites admissions to meet established budgeted monthly census goals. Assures timeliness and proficiency in providing and/or conducting clinical assessments and obtaining all admission requirements as outlined by corporate policies and procedures. Effectively completing and implementing the Expedited Review process for all Medicare/Managed Care referrals. Oversees and assures that the admission procedures for obtaining responsible party authorization (signatures) on the contractual agreements and explaining admission policies to residents and their families. Ensures that a smooth transition is achieved and that all paperwork is complete upon admission. Assures that back-up staff are identified and properly trained to ensure timely follow-up of inquiries, tours, and admission processing in the absence or unavailability of the Director of Community Engagement. Communicates all billing issues to the business office and administration. Assures the maintenance of daily updates on the Admission, Discharge and Transfers System. Assures the notification of interdepartmental disciplines of all schedule admissions. Informs the IDT of any issues regarding the admission of a patient. Ensures that all clinical and record documentation is provided to nursing and medical records accordingly. Identifies and communicated barriers (and a recommended plan of action) to the admissions process with the Administrative Team. Involves staff in tours and introduces them appropriately to prospective residents. Assures that all required data is properly entered into the system so that reports can be generated timely and efficiently on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. Collects statistical data and maintains efficient records regarding inquiries, referral sources, admission and discharges. All other duties assigned by the Administrator or Assistant Administrator.Serves as the chairperson for census development and assists with strategic planning for VVCC. Performs in all administratively assigned committees.
May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.Serves in the AOC rotation.

Minimum Qualifications
Must have High School Diploma and additional education is a plus. Must have 3-5 years of Healthcare marketing.

Preferred Qualifications
Previous admissions experience is preferred.

Salaries for current state employee will be determined according to the current state compensation policy.
