Independent Freight Inspector

Virtual Freight Inspections (VFI) is seeking qualified candidates to perform damaged freight inspections in and around Sioux City, IA market, including the surrounding areas.

This work requires making on-site inspections, reviewing products and packaging for damage, taking notes and detailed photos, and then creating an inspection report utilizing VFI’s proprietary online templates.

The compensation is a pre-determined flat rate per inspection and may vary slightly depending on the zip code and driving distance. This is part-time work as an independent contractor, and successful candidates will be required to cover their own business-related expenses, including mileage, digital devices, and employment taxes. Inspectors will receive an annual 1099 Form consistent with IRS rules.

Onsite inspections typically take less than 30 minutes. Please note a qualified candidate must:

1. Live in this market.

2. Have their own mode of transportation and be available during normal business hours.

3. Set aside the time to complete an inspection report within three business days of receiving an order.

4. Own a cellphone (with a camera), computer, printer and have high-speed internet access.

5. Be willing to travel up to 100 miles (depending on the market) and be able to physically lift up to 40 pounds.

VFI will provide training, based on experience. Please note specific experience as an inspector is not required.

If an agreement is reached, prospective inspectors will be asked to sign an independent contractor agreement. The independent contractor will be provided appropriate training by qualified staff on VFI’s systems and procedures in preparing an inspection report. VFI and the independent contractor will agree to perform inspections in mutually agreed zip codes. A VFI inspector will receive an email and text notification when an inspection has been ordered in their area.
