State Testing Support Technician
Overview:
Tech will setup, transport, and provide on site support for preconfigured routers and windows laptops. Tech will also need to tape down any tripping hazards.
Purpose:
Provide on-site technical assistance to virtual schools participating in state/other testing. These schools will provide group testing days hosted by various venues throughout the state and VTG has contracted with them to provide technical equipment and assistance during these testing windows. Further details on equipment and duties listed below.

Requirements:
- Little to no experience required. Training videos provided for work that needs performed
- Pass background check and drug test
- Clean driving record and valid driver’s license
- REQUIRES TRANSPORT OF EQUIPMENT TO 2ND SITE AFTER TESTING MARCH 8TH
- Ability to lift boxes up to 30 lbs
- Complete paid training provided virtually – applications must pass the training exams with a score of 100% and participate in a 30-minute training phone call
- Responses to our automated Communication Portal for tracking activity at your testing site
- Field Nation Account (For tax/payment purposes) – Instructions will be included via email if you are chosen for assignment. We will assist you with signing up on the platform if you require assistance.
Attendance:
- Suggested to arrive on site 15 minutes early every day, paid from arrival time to end of day
- We have a VERY strict attendance policy for this project
- If you arrive late or call off, you WILL be dismissed, and another tech will immediately be sourced to replace you
- We do understand that emergencies happen, so we may be able to keep you on the project if you give us ample notice that you will be late/absent for the day and provide documentation of the reason for your tardiness/absence
- Attendance incidents will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis
Responsibilities:
- Setup site – Prepare rooms at site by locating equipment and setting it up in each relevant room for the students and proctors, uploading relevant pictures to Field Nation listing
- Software initiation and verification – Open each laptop, verifying all necessary software is present and functionally properly, make sure that every laptop is correctly connected to the wireless routers
- Troubleshooting – Stay on hand and ready to help students/proctors with any technical issues that might occur during testing If any problems arise that you cannot fix, you contact our help desk immediately and IT will help resolve the issue.
- Tear-down – Some sites will allow the equipment to stay in the room overnight, while some require daily tear-down; ensure all equipment is stored safely/securely each day and packed properly/securely for shipment back to warehouse at completion of testing
- Transport - Transport equipment to the 2nd site
Required Equipment:
- Applicant must have a smartphone with minutes and data for completion of listing
Other equipment provided at site for setup:
- Laptops
- Routers
- MiFi/Jetpacks
- Ethernet cords
- Duct Tape or Gaffers Tape depending on site needs / instructions
- Extension cords and Surge Protectors
- Shipping Boxes, Packing Materials, Labels, etc.
Dress Code:
- Business casual dress without logo or icons
- Mask required when you are at testing sites per school requirements
Payment Terms:
- Timeclock starts on arrival at destination and is tracked via Field Nation as well as VTG’s Communication Portal
- Pay based upon completion of each deliverable.
- Unpaid lunch, minimum of 30 minutes, maximum of 60 minutes expected if working 6 hours or longer
- If any excess traveling required, or extensive travel, mileage reimbursement can be provided
- Hotel provided if necessary for extensive travel
Job Types: Part-time, Contract, Temporary
Pay: $30.00 per hour
