Job Description

North America Product Innovation is looking to hire a Product Director with entrepreneurial mindset and a successful track record of building emerging payments products at scale. In this role, you will be responsible to work in partnership with digital, fintech and regional product teams to delivery innovative payment solutions that will drive value for Visa and its customers. To drive this value-driven innovation culture, we are looking for digital and technology savvy product development leader who are passionate about innovating and delivering truly differentiated payments experiences for specific marketplaces.

The role will work engage across all of the emerging product Solutions Teams of the hub, and the Geography Teams in the markets, as well as with other key functions across the organization:  Business Development, Finance, Global Client Management, etc. Thus the role requires a very high degree of cross functional collaboration and engagement.

This role will be expected to be the product expert driving the strategy and vision for the end to end product life cycle and will report into the Head of Product Innovation, North America and will be based in San Francisco, with significant exposure to key stakeholders and leadership across Visa Inc.

Essential Functions

  • Develop strategy roadmap to drive the creation and execution of multiple new products and triage additions/changes to the roadmap, as needed
  • New offerings (digital and/or physical) that plug into core Visa platforms and make use of emerging payments technologies such as push payments and/or alternative form factors, e.g. Blockchain and GenAI
  • Be fully responsible for commercial success of product development strategy, innovation launch and commercialization
  • Partner with Sales Account Executives, Visa Client Consulting, Product Strategy, Risk Products, Innovation and Digital teams to understand B2C and B2B user needs, pain points and opportunities
  • Develop guides and best practice tools for clients and partners to use during commercialization and support ongoing usage going forward
  • Be a thought leader for various products and technology use-cases and overall development roadmap to meet the needs of our customers.
  • You will be responsible to help mentor and coach other product managers in the organization.

 

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 10 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD
  • 15 years of experience, including at least eight years of experience leading technology teams, product management and innovation.
  • Experience designing and architecting cross-platform products
  • Experience partnering with technologists using Agile or other expedited design and development methodologies preferred
  • Fintech experience with financial/payment industry knowledge is a must-have.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6 years of work experience with a PhD
  • Self-starter with a bias toward action and proven track record for successfully developing, building, launching and commercializing technology products that delight customers
  • Demonstrated thought leadership and the aptitude to think creatively and identify new ways to innovate and differentiate products with evidence of tangible business results
  • Possess a high level of professionalism and leadership skills to build business relationships, trust and respect with business partners and suppliers
  • Strong team player, self-motivated and the ability to work independently at coordinating cross functional activities, obtain buy-in and elevate issues at critical junctures appropriately
  • Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written and presentation necessary. Active listening skills required
  • Proven Technology Development experience in addition to building payment products at scale.
  • Strong collaboration and influence skills to effectively lead cross-functional teams to drive deliverables, projects and engagements to completion
  • Comfort working closely with Engineering and/or Systems Architects required
  • A degree in technical field (Engineering/CS, MIS/CIS, etc.) and/or business from a top school strongly preferred

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 176,900.00 to 230,000.00 USD, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
