Job DescriptionThe VAS Architecture & Platform organization is leading Visa's transformation in architecting, developing, and deploying Value Add Services across our business solution verticals & commercial platforms. A key responsibility of the VAS Innovations Team is focused on delivering innovations leveraging the big-3 public cloud vendors (GCP, AWS & Azure). These initiatives include creating service & tools, delivering proof of concepts (POC) and enabling the migration of existing workloads to public cloud. In addition, delivering innovations that leverage the latest cutting-edge technologies such as GenAI & AI/ML are core to the team's DNA.
The VAS Innovations team is seeking a dynamic Senior Software Engineering Manager to lead a team in tackling intricate global challenges, playing a pivotal role in Visa's cross-functional efforts to innovate, design, and deliver software solutions to a worldwide customer base. This role offers the opportunity to shape the future of digital transactions, contribute to cutting-edge payment technology, and facilitate Visa's migration to public cloud platforms.
Essential Functions
- Manage a team of top performing engineers, setting OKRs, conducting performance reviews, motivating, and inspiring the team to build products that delight our customers.
- Defining project scope, timelines, and resource allocation.
- Providing guidance to the team and ensuring they adhere to development standards.
- Ensuring adherence to software development methodologies and best practices.
- Identifying training and skill development needs for the team.
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
QualificationsBasic Qualifications:
- 8 years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 11 years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 10 or more years of relevant work experience with a bachelor's degree or 8 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD)
- 3 - 5 years management experience in all activities of a software development team
- Setting goals, conducting performance evaluations & career development discussions
- Mentor & coach a development team to design, code & debug services & applications.
- Possess excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Experience with migrations from On-Prem systems to Public, Hybrid and Multi-Cloud
- GenAI experience, Copilot, ChatGPT, LLMs, RAG model and Prompt experience
- Security Expertise, security best practices, compliance & data protectionKubernetes & Container skills, working both on-prem and in public cloud (GKE)
- Strong Communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams & stakeholders.
- Payment Domain Knowledge of Acquiring, Issuing and Card Networks
- Certification in public cloud in either a Engineer/Architect on GCP, AWS and/or Azure
Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.
Travel Requirements: This position requires travel5-10% of the time.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 141,900.00 to 184,500.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
