Key Result Areas

  1. Review demand and assign to the most effective available resource in order to ensure customer requirements are met within the quantity and date tolerances. Advise all parties concerned when customer requirements cannot be met and provide alternate dates and quantities.
  2. Review schedules to ensure all required materials and equipment resources will be available to complete the order on time and in full.
  3. Monitor production output and adjust schedules as necessary.
  4. Work with other departments to ensure product changeovers, trials and maintenance work is scheduled, agreed and communicated within the organization.
  5. Review future demand and assess against current configured capacity. Make changes to configuration where possible and advise senior management if radical changes are required.
  6. Assist procurement by providing an analysis of future key component requirements and make recommendations where potential issues are foreseen.
  7. Work closely with the converting operation planners and schedulers to ensure sufficient WIP material is available to allow the timely execution of all requirements allowing for the work content of supporting operations
  8. Prepare and publish monthly KPI’s including, but not limited to, compliance to schedule, yield analysis, changeover frequency and effectiveness.
  9. Maintain all master data including BOM’s and Routings. Review ancillary equipment and identify new requirements.
  1. Make improvements and otherwise refine the scheduling conditions /restrictions on the planning tools.        Ensure that proper contingency plans are in place in order to mitigate potential operational disruptions.

 

  1. Develop continuous improvement programs that promote operational excellence.

 

Skill and Competencies Required

Knowledge & Skills & Competencies

  1. Business – knowledge of the manufacturing industry and applications
  2. Functional – Planning and scheduling experience in a manufacturing setting.
  3. Knowledge and experience – 3 years of manufacturing planning experience.
  4. Educational training required – Bachelor’s degree or better
  5. Required Competencies – Communication at all levels within the organization, Ability to work within a team environment demonstrating a strong desire to fulfil operational goals with an emphasis on total customer satisfaction and working in a safe and responsible manner. 

People Responsibilities

Directly managed: Senior Planner

Indirectly managed: Supply Chain Manager

Able to work independently and provide all parties with accurate information regarding the impact of schedules and changes in requirements.

Complexity

Ability to analyses and convert complex data into production requirements. Ability to convert varied requirement units of measure into production units while observing all batch minimums

Ensuring customer requirements are met in the most efficient and cost effective manner while avoiding any obsolescence risk are key to the success and profitability of the organization.

Involvement in Business Planning/ Budget

Monitor seasonal trends in demand and ensure the budget reflects those impacts.

Liaise with prepare with maintenance and engineering the rolling R&U schedule. 

Communication

Key task is communication between operations, maintenance, procurement, quality assurance and customer service to ensure customer order fulfilment.

Physical requirements

Able to stand for long periods, ability to lift 50lbs.

Environmental conditions of position & any known safety requirements for position

Awareness of all safety risks within the plant and use of required PPE for designated areas. Ability to work in a safe and environmentally conscious manner. Reporting of any and all unsafe activities observed.
