Responsibilities:

· The Horizontal Directional Drill Operator is responsible for all duties associated with and related to the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of Directional Drills and various mud mixing equipment.

· As a Directional Drill Operator / Locator, you will support directional drilling for installation of underground conduit.

· Read and understand maps, drawings, and diagrams for the project build process.

· Operate a horizontal directional bore in collaboration with the Drill Locator to successfully install conduit. Operate various sized Vermeer or Ditchwitch drills.

· Transport heavy equipment to and from the job site.

· Load and unload equipment.

· Duties will also include repairing potholes, installi9ng hand-holes, and manholes.

· Other duties would be to perform general site preparation, including surveying existing utilities.

· Set equipment up including the drill, water tanks, reclaimers, and other equipment that may be necessary for job production.

· Ability to properly formulate and mix drilling mud for the site conditions.

· Ability to perform proper reaming and pull back methods for existing conditions.

· Maintain a clean job site.

· Oversee technicians and/or crew members work.

· Ability to properly clean and maintain the equipment, check fluid levels, and conduct a visual inspection of vehicle/equipment to assure your vehicle/equipment is performing at optimum safety, perform the required pre-trip, post trip inspections and the required reports, perform needed maintenance including winterizing equipment.

· Communicates with Supervisor daily to turn in required reports (i.e. Bore log, vehicle maintenance reports, etc.).

Follows specifications for the job and company policies.

· Complies with safety procedures on and off the project site.

· Strive for optimal production while working safely and performing quality work.

Physical Requirements:

· Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions.

· Must be able to lift and carry heavy materials, tools, and equipment (up to 50 pounds or more).

· Must be able to work overtime and weekends when the job requires it.

Experience:

· Directional Drilling (3 years preferred)

License/Certification:

· Valid CDL Class A (Preferred)

· Valid Driver’s License with clean record

Willingness to Travel:

· 75% (Preferred)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per hour
