Accounting Manager

Overview

Vision Innovation Partners, the leading multi-state Mid-Atlantic multi-specialty ophthalmology company, is currently seeking a full-time Accounting Manager to join our team! The position, based in the beautiful city of Annapolis, Maryland, is hybrid with some days each week working in the office.  

The Accounting Manager, reporting to the Controller, plays a key role on the Finance team. This self-motivated and driven individual will monitor financial activities and oversee financial statement accounts; facilitate in month-end close process; design and provide financial analysis; champion process improvements and standardization; research problem areas, recommend solutions, and follow up on needed actions. This position requires an aptitude for data analysis, research, critical thinking, sound judgment, excellent communication and collaboration, and ability to prioritize tasks to meet competing deadlines.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties:

• Oversee daily operations of accounting department.
• Establish and maintain internal controls for accounting transactions.
• Prepare GAAP financial statements and analysis.
• Work with outside auditors to coordinate and complete annual audits.
• Lead the month and year end close process and review.
• Work with the accounts payable department during month end review to ensure that all appropriate costs are included.
• Provide revenue and expenditure variance analysis.
• Review and approve journal entries and account reconciliations including fixed assets, ASC 842, inventory, intangibles, and debt.
• Ensure compliance with local and state tax requirements.
• Identify and drive process improvements, including creating report templates.
• Support in integrating future acquisitions into the existing processes.
• Assist with purchase accounting and opening balance sheet accounting of future acquisitions.
• Ad-hoc projects and analysis as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related fields along with a minimum of five (5) years of relevant accounting experience.
• CPA and/or MBA preferred.
• Public accounting experience is a plus.
• Previous experience in healthcare preferred.
• Experience with ASC 842
• Proficiency in Excel and advanced data tools.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with other team members.
• Personal integrity and professional experience working with confidential and sensitive information. 
• Skilled using various accounting software - NetSuite and Mineral Tree experience is a PLUS!
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks, and meet competing deadlines.
• Skilled in data gathering, analysis, and problem-solving.
• Business acumen and attention to detail.
