Job Title: 911 Technician

Job Summary: This position is responsible for installation and maintenance of E911 systems, networks, and technology.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities;

  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot Enhanced 911 systems including servers, PC's software, and select routers.
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows and Linux operating systems, corresponding application software, Cisco network equipment, equipment racks, and grounding systems.
  • Provision and troubleshoot TCP/IP WAN and LAN networks, routing protocols such as OSPF, BGP, ans ISIS, and transport protocols such as MPLS and ATM on the Cisco IOS platform.
  • Provision, test, and troubleshoot VoIP systems.
  • Troubleshoot telco leased line circuits including ethernet and T1 circuits.
  • Provision and troubleshoot 911 trunks (analog, digital, and SS7) from telephone company host switches.
  • Work with project partners, such as local phone companies and equipment vendors, for solutions on problem resolution, project scheduling, etc.
  • Provide Tire 2 support for the Public Safety Answering Point project, train other technicians and support day-to-day NOC activities.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Knowledge of:
    • Company policies, procedures, products and services.
    • General office practices and procedures.
    • Ancillary systems that help provide enhanced 911 services on this project's network, including ANI/ALI, ENS, PIX, and Palo Alto firewalls, DACS, UPS systems, etc.
  • Skill to:
    • Write original material, edit, proofread, and finalize written material.
    • Operate various types of office equipment such as, computer, copy machine, fax machine, and multi-line telephone.
  • Ability to:
    • Work independently and within a team.
    • Promote products and services effectively.
    • Think analytically and be a problem solver.
    • Be able to pass state background check for access to Public Safety Answering Points and maintain CJIN Certification where required.
    • Obtain and maintain a valid Montana driver's license, have a good driving record and be insurable unter the Company insurance policy.
    • Communicate effectively, both in writing and in spraking, with customers, co-workers, and various business contacts in a courteous and professional manner.
    • Read, analyze, and interpret technicial documentation.
    • Provide excellent customer service.
    • Work in a safe and effective manner.
    • Maintain confidentiality of company information and records when required.
    • Perform with integrity and accountability at all times.
Education And Experience

  • Any combination equivalent to the following education and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities would be:
    • Associate's degree in electronics, networking, or related field.
    • 1 to 3 years of related experience and/or training.
Physical And Other Requirements

This position may require 8 to 10 hour days, flexible hours, 30-50% travel, and some weekends. Rotating On-Call duty may also be required.
