As a public/private non-profit, our organization represents a large membership, including museums, hotels, restaurants, retail stores, theaters, transportation companies, and attractions. The mission of our DMO is to enhance the local economy that we serve by marketing our region nationally as a destination for group travel. Thus, creating an economic impact to the members we serve.
Position
Visit Spokane is hiring a Content Marketing Manager. APPLICANTS MUST HAVE A MINIMUM OF 5 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE AS A CONTENT MARKETING MANAGER.
This role will be responsible for building and integrating social-first content strategies across Visit Spokane’s marketing platforms used to promote Spokane as a must-see destination for visitors. The strategies should drive follower growth, engagement, and conversion metrics for optimization. This position will be responsible for collaborating with multiple key stakeholders for Leisure, Convention Sales and Services, and Partnership & Engagement Services to deliver a consistent plan across Visit Spokane’s outbound marketing and advertising channels. Success will require a strong knowledge of social media best practices, ideating best-in-class storytelling, and possessing a strong grasp of the competitive landscape in Destination Marketing. This role requires demonstrating creativity in strategizing and ideating social-first content in a dynamic way.
Job Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates a deep understanding of content strategy and social media management. Responsible for applying content marketing strategy to develop and distribute content through Visit Spokane channels including website, social media, blog content, OOH, and special events.
- Manages the process for developing Visit Spokane’s annual, quarterly, and monthly content planning. Host and run cross-departmental content planning meetings and manage planning deliverables.
- Assists in research of demographics, visitor trends, editorial calendars, and other useful information for marketing strategies and planning.
- Creates engaging content and storytelling that drives visitors to Spokane attractions, local events, experiential itineraries, hotels, restaurants, retail stores and more.
- Creates engaging content and storytelling that drives convention sales and develops and leverages a content bank for the Convention Sales and Services team.
- Manages partnerships with cross-functional teams to ensure consistency of messaging across all Visit Spokane platforms.
- Manages user-generated content and requests.
- Develops, implements, and manages current platform-specific engagement strategies.
- Works locally and attends events, attractions, and more that provide visitors and local residents a behind-the-scenes look into Spokane.
- Shoots and produces short video content for digital, social and editorial distribution.
- Oversees day-to-day interaction and publishing to the Visit Spokane social communities.
- Oversees day-to-day direction with the social media marketing agency including content calendaring, managing messaging, strategy, asset deliverables, and posting assignments.
- Responsible for the delivery of marketing, creative, digital, brand and broadcast assets for digital and social platforms.
- Performs the role with an ‘always on’ approach to digital and social media, constantly monitoring and engaging current trends, influencers in the region, website, celebrities and trends.
- Work directly with Public Relations to enhance storytelling for travel writers, journalists, or publications to align with our marketing.
- Manage events calendar submissions and publications on the website. Maintains list of annual events and happenings for all staff through online monitoring and data entry, including submission requests and research.
- Regularly provides reports on all established performance indicators to leadership.
- Performs all tasks required to meet the evolving needs of the bureau and to assist the marketing/sales departments to meet the mission of the organization.
Must Haves:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in content marketing and social media management.
- Proficient in developing and executing content plans for different time frames.
- Experience working with agencies and vendors for day-to-day operations.
- Proficient in managing social analytics programs and tracking links/codes.
The Social Media and Content Manager role will look for opportunities and creative ways to promote Spokane as a destination for convention and leisure travelers. The role is responsible to drive the social media strategy, assist with departmental operations, and manage partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to maximize content distribution and engagement, and to ensure consistency in storytelling across all platforms.
Visit Spokane is currently a hybrid office, a mix of in-office days and work from home days, therefore candidates must be local to the Spokane area.
