JOB SUMMARY:
The CNC Swiss/Mill Turn Machinist programs, sets up, and operates Swiss style and Mill Turn CNC machines along with a variety of other machine tools. Working from part prints, process sheets, quality documentation, and CAD models to produce precision components to print. The Swiss Machinist promotes a work environment that is positive, safe, seeks to continuously improve, and is focused on meeting the goals and objectives of the organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Level I
- Maintain a clean and safe work area and follow standard safety procedures and personal protective equipment requirements.
- Read and understand part drawings and basic GD&T.
- Perform accurate and timely job tasking, line clearance, and production reporting of work orders.
- Conduct in-process inspection of components to ensure conformity to quality requirements using precision measuring instruments.
- Set-up and operate Swiss style and Mill turn machines for production parts.
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks on equipment.
Level II
- Review complex drawings and GT&D.
- Program and troubleshoot complex tool paths.
- Troubleshoot complicated process issues independently.
- Support training of Level I Machinist and Operators.
- Work independently and in a team environment.
- Work with other departments on projects, designs, and process improvements.
Level III
- Program, set-up, run parts, inspect, and make adjustments to produce conforming parts with no supervision.
- Utilize Partmaker/Esprit- Advanced programming (Surfacing/re-chuck/multi-axis) and produce code.
- Support Discovery and Engineering on rapid prototyping and urgent request.
- Write and implement Macros.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Level I
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of trade school preferred.
- 1-2 years" experience setting-up and operate Swiss style and Mill turn machines required.
Level II
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of trade school preferred.
- 3-5 years" experience programming, setting-up and operate Swiss style and Mill turn machines required.
Level III
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of trade school preferred.
- 6 years" experience programming, setting-up and operate Swiss style and Mill turn machines required.
- Advanced programming experience required, Partmaker/Esprit experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Level I
- Basic shop math skills.
- Ability to read blueprints, work instructions, and inspection criteria.
- Must be proficient in the use of standard inspection equipment.
- Basic understanding of GD&T.
Level II
- Knowledge of SPC preferred.
- Good working knowledge of GD&T.
- Programming experience preferred.
- Able to run variety of shop equipment.
- Experience working with close tolerances in a variety of metals.
Level III
- Capable of writing complex multi axis programs.
- Strong working knowledge of GD&T.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $21.00 per hour
