Group Home Supervisor

AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:
To be responsible for the overall management and operations of designated locations to include services, personnel and administration. The Service and Support Director may delegate certain specified tasks but are still ultimately responsible for ensuring all delegated tasks are completed in accordance to Vista Care policies and procedures. The Service and Support Director position ensures the delivery of high-quality services and supports through consistent compliance with Visa Care' mission and associated policies. The responsibilities ensure all persons served are always treated with dignity and respect.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1. Responsible for the overall quality of services provided and implementation of Visa Care's mission within their designated locations.
2. Develop operational procedures as necessary and assigned consistent with regulatory standards and organizational policies and assure follow through.
3. Oversee all follow-through on medical appointments, hospitalizations and emergency visits for persons served.
4. Monitor program funds; including preparing and maintaining balance sheets of expenses.
5. To maintain responsibility for the management and supervision of personnel within each of the programs managed.
6. Assure the implementation of training of staff through orientation, staff meetings, in-services and training opportunities.
7. Keep staff informed of issues and situations in the field, support services, and the community that may affect the program and/or organization.
8. Monitor the physical site maintenance and improvement, ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies, person served safety and organizational standards, taking immediate action to communicate maintenance issues and correct problems, as they occur.
9. Provide leadership and direction in promoting the concepts, beliefs, and purposes of the program and organization.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A 4-year degree and 1 year of related supervisory experience is preferred but an equivalent combination of 5 years education and experience will be considered. Background as a Resident Care Manager at Visa Care is considered supervisory experience provided employee is in good standing in terms of disciplinary action. Prior experience in residential services and supports for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities as well persons with significant behavioral challenges is desirable. The individual must consistently demonstrate effective decision-making abilities, strong communication skills and computer literacy. Additionally, highly qualified candidates will have experience in verbal de-escalation techniques, crisis intervention skills, superior problem-solving skills and rapport building abilities.
Individual must successfully complete all State of Wisconsin CBRF certification requirements within 90 days of accepting position. Physical qualifications include the ability to lift to 50 pounds, bend, twist, reach and stand on a continual basis. Prompt and regular attendance is a requirement.
DRIVING REQUIREMENT:
The SSD is required use their own vehicle or those owned and/or leased by Visa Care. This responsibility may include transporting persons served. A valid Wisconsin driver’s license and level of personal liability insurance as required by Visa Care must always remain in effect.
