Buyer - CCI/Speer

Job Description CCI/Speer is seeking a Buyer to add to their team. This position is responsible for the procurement of assigned commodities, supplies and services at the lowest total cost consistent with desired quality to meet specified required dates. Interfaces with vendors and in-house personnel as necessary to negotiate price and delivery. Responsibilities Receives and reviews each requisition for completeness and necessary information, selects reliable sources, requests bids as necessary, evaluates quotations and makes final vendor selection. Purchase assigned materials (buyer specific) from qualified vendors with sufficient lead times to prevent material shortages. Investigates and evaluates new sources for supplies, makes recommendations and advises requisitioners in terms of sources available. Negotiates price, payment terms and delivery methods to ensure lowest total costs for assigned materials. Follow-up on purchase orders (expedites, changes, investigates). Coordinates and makes the necessary arrangements for processing discrepant supplied materials and makes the proper disposition of rejected items. Approves supplier invoice exceptions for payment by the Accounting Department in accordance with governing policies and procedures. Makes decisions about where to acquire materials and services, the best price and delivery, when and where to get quotes, how to source new vendors and freight services to meet requisition requirements. Makes recommendations about best sources based on research, quality discounts and payment terms, alternate brands of material and best freight carrier for price and location of goods. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related field and/or 2-4 years related experience. Prefer two to four years of purchasing experience related to materials, chemicals, packaging, tools or MRO supplies. Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong interpersonal skills. Strong Negotiation skills and ability to work well with teams. Proficient in Microsoft Excel. Proficient knowledge of written and spoken English is required.
