What are the responsibilities and job description for the IC&E Power Plant Tech position at Vistra Corporation?
This position is responsible for the safe, environmentally compliant, and efficient operation of the facility. The facility is a Combined Cycle Natural Gas Power Plant. This position will provide day to day maintenance, troubleshooting, inspection and repairs to the facility equipment. It is required to show initiative in his/her area of responsibility.
Responsibilities:
- Perform routine and emergency maintenance on the plant instrumentation, electrical and control system with minimum supervision, including weekends, holidays and scheduled shift.
- Evaluate, maintain and repair (low, medium, high voltage) breakers, switch gear, switch yards, motor control centers, AC & DC circuitry, electrical disconnect, transformers, lighting panels, HVAC UPS, batteries, charger, inverters and VFD’s.
- Evaluate, maintain, and repair electrical equipment & controls, relay protection schemes, electrical monitoring equipment, various operating gauges, instruments, PLC’s and alarms.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair plant electronic, pneumatic systems, analyzers, facility computers, process control equipment and instrumentation.
- Perform trouble-shooting activities on all plant electrical equipment. Must be able to troubleshoot and diagnose problems in systems, read and interpret online diagrams, electrical protection scheme, P&IDs, equipment specifications, and vendor service manuals.
- Participate in major maintenance projects, including equipment overhauls and removal and replacement of major units and parts. Inspects and monitors work of third-party contractors during major equipment repair or installation.
- Build cable and raceway systems and bend and install conduit. Pull and route control and power cables through raceways, cable trays and conduits. Terminate cables and check for continuity and accuracy.
- Comply with safety and environmental regulations established by regulatory agencies, Company policies and procedures and supervision
- Must be able to frequently climb ladders; enter confined spaces; climb to and work from elevated platforms, ladders and walkways at elevations of 80 feet and more; wear respirator.
Requirements:
- High school graduate or equivalent, trade school, related military service training programs, or technical training school programs.
- Additional professional training preferred.
- Minimum of five years maintenance experience in power generation facilities or similar industrial facilities and field.
- Must possess basic math skills, good verbal communications skills, and be proficient with the use of power and precision tools.
- Must have knowledge of Safety and Environment rules as they relate to electrical maintenance
- Must provide positive influence on the maintenance, operations, and management team.
- Must be able to troubleshoot and diagnose problems in systems, read and interpret online diagrams, electrical protection scheme, P&IDs, equipment specifications, and vendor service manuals.
- Must be able to frequently climb ladders; enter confined spaces; climb to and work from elevated platforms, ladders and walkways at elevations of 80 feet and more; wear respirator.
- Must pass POSS/MASS pre-employment test.
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience evaluating, maintaining and repairing (low, medium, high voltage) breakers, switch gear, switch yards, motor control centers, AC & DC circuitry, electrical disconnect, transformers, lighting panels, UPS, batteries, charger, inverters and VFD’s.
- Working knowledge of Work Management Programs. Familiarity with Maximo preferred
- Experience evaluating, maintain, and repair electrical equipment & controls, relay protection schemes, electrical monitoring equipment, instruments, PLC’s and alarms.
- Experience troubleshooting, diagnosing and repairing plant electronic, pneumatic systems, analyzers, facility computers, process control equipment and instrumentation.
- Additional experience with machinery repair and control systems highly desired.
- HVAC highly desired.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40.00 - $55.00 per hour
