What are the responsibilities and job description for the Key Account Manager, Northeast position at Vita Coco?
The Key Account Manager – Metro NY is a leadership position to maintain, maximize and create new accounts within the assigned territory. This Key Account Manager will be responsible for maximizing product sales, distribution and profitability as well as the leadership aspect for the customers Compass, Sodexo, Aramak, HMS Host, all military, etc. It is expected that this individual will work with our team and the distributor’s team to achieve the Company’s goals while adhering to their policies and procedures.
Reporting to the Director of National Accounts, this role is based out of the Northeast area with 50% travel. Travel will be frequently to New Jersey and New York.
Main Responsibilities:
- Builds out promo calendars and then finds ways to maximize execution against promotions
- Establishes and maintains relationships with all managed market segments of the business
- Helps to build out retail marketing programs both Nationally and Regionally in channels
- Manages pricing and ensures that pricing architecture and margins are protected
- Negotiates special programs to drive volume and/or share
- Accountable for developing strategic growth- which will include new products or package authorizations
- Meets and exceeds assigned targets for profitable sales volume and strategic objectives in assigned accounts
- Ensures access to senior level decision makers at accounts
- Reviews route to market plans and adjusts when necessary
Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
- 5+ years of sales experience working for a portfolio company, specifically in Convenience Stores
- Bachelor's degree in management or business-related field is preferred
- Beverage experience preferred with a knowledge in the Energy, CSD or Water space (experience with a few of the following accounts: Shoprite, Shaws, Hannaford, Market Basket, Price Chopper etc.)
- Extensive knowledge of the beverage industry, three-tiered distribution system experience preferred
- Proven track record of success in a leadership (director and above) sales role
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze and interpret syndicated data
- Outstanding oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Exceptional presentation, organization, and negotiation skills
- Strong people management and decision-making skills
- High-energy self-started as well as collaborative team player
- Ability to thrive in a rapidly changing, dynamic environment
- Willingness to travel up to 50%
