Position: Medical Assistant (Podiatry MA)
Department: Podiatry
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (hourly)
Location: 18450 Highway 59 Humble, Texas 77338

Estimated Hours: Monday – Friday (8a – 5p)

POSITION SUMMARY

Medial Assistants (MA) will perform front and back-office duties to deliver quality patient care by providing clinical support under the direction of a physician. MA’s work closely with front office staff to ensure an efficient clinic flow and coordination of care. MA’s will provide outstanding customer service to patients, physicians and all other hospital professionals.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Direct Patient Care
1. Rooms patients efficiently while adhering to physician’s designated clinic schedule
2. Performs vital signs, height, weight & blood-oxygen saturation and documents in electronic medical record
3. Reviews medication, family, social, medical & surgical history with patient and updates electronic medical record appropriately
4. Collaborate with other MAs to ensure efficient clinic flow for all providers

Podiatry Specific Job Duties
1. Performing pretreatment foot examinations
2. Total contact casts and soft cast applications
3. Perform wound care & dressing changes
4. Wound vac application & troubleshoot
5. Assist & setup minor surgical & office procedures (e.g. skin graft applications, nail procedures & cortisol injections)
6. Custom orthotics
7. Foot & ankle x-rays

Back Office Duties
1. Prepare patient clinical charts
2. Assist in drug refill requests
3. Clean & maintain medical equipment
4. Medical supply management & restock

Other Duties: Performs other duties as assigned

Education & Licensure

  • Required: High School Diploma / GED
  • Completion of medical assistant training program

Minimum Experience

  • Required: 2 year of relevant experience
  • Preferred: Podiatry clinical experience, limited x-ray

Minimum Knowledge

  • Non-invasive blood pressure
  • Temperature
  • Pulse oximeter
  • Basic computer skills

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, twisting in order to observe, assess and interact with clients.
  • Stand or sit for extended periods of time, stand for up to 6-8 hours a day.
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, and loading/unloading materials up to and including 20 lbs.
  • Visual and auditory ability to work with clients, staff and others in the workplace continuously
  • Frequent speaking and listening to clients, staff and other professionals in meetings and on the phone.
