If we are speaking your language, then Vital Research has the perfect opportunity for you as a Field Supervisor overseeing our field team for the Quality of Life(QOL) project based in Minnesota. The field team conducts 20-minute, semi-structured, in-person interviews to evaluate the quality of life for residents in long-term care facilities.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supervise interviewers and Quality Assurance Mentors (QAMs) across the state, involving occasional overnight travel.
  • Drive throughout Minnesota to observe field staff at local long-term care facilities, when not working remotely from your home office.
  • Train new field staff as they join the project.
  • Train, troubleshoot, and assist field staff with the usage of tech equipment, including operating tablets used for data collection, survey software, wired and wireless internet, and basic hardware and software.
  • Answer phone calls and emails from field staff throughout the day and assist them with issues related to (1) technology barriers, (2) interpersonal issues, (3) reports of potential Abuse, Neglect, and Exploitation (ANE), and (4) following protocols and procedures.
  • Document interviewer schedules, including changes like daily callouts, and provide updates to the Vital project team immediately.
  • Observe and evaluate QAMs regularly as they conduct quality assurance activities including (1) conducting inter-rater reliability interviews, (2) observing resident selection procedures, (3) completing interview skills checklists and evaluation forms, (4) reviewing interview guides for accuracy, and (5) conduct mentoring and coaching activities. The evaluations of QAMs will be entered by the Field Supervisor on tablets in an online survey platform.
  • Communicate field staff performance and general observations to the project team throughout each day; major issues or protocol violations need to be communicated to Vital immediately.
  • Comply with confidentiality, federal HIPAA regulations, and adhere to data security requirements.
  • Be punctual and work independently.
  • Supply interviewers with needed materials.
  • Assist with additional Vital Research projects, as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related social science field or equivalent education.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory role, managing 20 or more people.
  • Available between 7:30 am to 4:00 pm CST daily, Monday through Friday.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and automobile insurance with the ability to travel an estimated 50% of the time to any region within the state of MN.
  • Strong organizational, verbal, and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with Vital Research staff, field staff, and facility residents and staff.
  • Comfort interacting with older adults, and others with physical and/or other disabilities.
  • Demonstrate concern and sensitivity to issues of disability, illness, and communication challenges.
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Reader, and survey software.
  • Ability to communicate sensitive information to interviewers, QAMs, and Vital Research staff.
  • Comfort modeling appropriate interviewer behavior and providing constructive feedback to field staff.
  • Skill in working independently and as part of a team to complete multiple tasks in an environment with rapid changes in priorities.
  • Ability to work remotely as well as on-site at facilities.
  • Access to private Wi-Fi, computer, and printer, and the ability to print from home.
  • Ability to read, type, and record responses accurately.
  • Ability to follow structured protocols to comply with confidentiality and federal HIPAA regulations.
  • Adhere to a business casual dress code and other personal requirements.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with older adults, homes, assisted living, or adult day care centers preferred.
  • Coaching and interviewing experience preferred.
  • Experience in a research capacity preferred.
