What are the responsibilities and job description for the Training Coordinator position at Vitro Flat Glass LLC?
Overview:
The training coordinator is one of the first points of contact for incoming hires to Vitro. This role is key in ensuring the accurate presentation and training of new hire learning materials, following up with new hires as a liaison for successful onboarding needs, and to monitor and track documentation and compliance of policy and procedure.
Responsibilities:
- Teach the new hire class on an as needed basis in Glass 101, Safety, and possibly serve as a back up to the HR training as well.
- Understand and teach general glass inspection methodology for tempering, windshield and value add lines as well as forklift certification and other areas as identified
- Understand job specific training needs to effectively integrate the DOJO training space into the class, providing an interactive learning environment for each person
- Provides safety training in lock-out, tag-out and the safe wear and use of necessary personal protective equipment and other site training information
- Instructs in correct use and technique of glass measuring tools such as micrometers, gauges and check fixtures.
- Interprets and may help create work instructions, standard operating procedures, and product quality documents to ensure students learn proper procedure and protocol in total glass production.
- Proctors instruction and testing to track and monitor applicants progress and development in relation to automotive glass knowledge.
- Manages filing and organization of students completed course work and materials.
- Records and communicates training hours to ensure prompt and correct pay for trainees.
- Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision to complete a list of daily priorities.
- Follow up with Supervisors to ensure a training plan is in place for each new hire once they go on shift
- Follow up with employees to ensure their training is going well and resources/tools are provided
- Ensure all proper training documentation is received and reported for audit compliance
- Establish metrics to communicate progress on training in the plant
- Will work closely with HR to ensure training, payroll, scheduling, and new hires are onboarding efficiently and released if necessary
- Must be able to keep information confidential and keep documentation in a secured organized place
- Complete special requests/projects as needed
- A basic understanding of the general principles of automation, automated equipment and robotics plus knowledge of the use of this equipment as it applies to line operation is preferred.
- HS Diploma or GED required; 2-year technical degree preferred
- Experience as Operator preferred and previous production / manufacturing experience required
- Schedule will vary based on the needs of the position and the plant. Primary days will be Monday to Friday 6am – 3pm and adjusted as needed for the team
- Must have been in previous position for at least 6 months and have less than 4 attendance points
