The Plant Manager at Salem has responsibility for the leadership of the organization. This facility is part of the Architectural Glass supply system within Vitro, and produces MSVD Low-E coated flat glass for the residential and commercial building industry. The Manager has ultimate accountability for the long-term performance of this facility, and represents the best interests of top management, stockholders, and employees who derive their livelihood from the Vitro Salem enterprise.
Key Roles and Responsibilities include:
- Communicates & establishes plant mission and policy, developing values and culture for the organization. Accountable for personal development as an increasingly effective leader and manager.
- Safety, Health and Environment: Assures high level of commitment to safety, housekeeping, environmental, health, and security concerns. Establishes policy to assure top priority for these concerns.
- Quality Products and Customer Service: Makes quality "first among equals" as a concern for the organization, manages the quality process. Works with Sales to establish an excellent working relationship with customers. Causes constant and continuing improvement in the quality of the work process, quality of products, and level of service to customers.
- Organization Development: Assures the goals of the organization and goals of the individual employees are in mutual support. Assures growth of individuals throughout the organization. Develops an organization with an everlasting commitment to excellence.
- Technological Capabilities: Assures that all business areas stay on the leading edge of technology, to assure long-term competitive position.
- Operations: Manages operations for continuous improvement in reliability, flexibility, and low cost.
- Financial: Accountable for long-term financial health of the plants, including achievement of PPG goals for return on investment.

- Bachelor's Degree, engineering degree preferred
- MBA preferred
- 7 years of applicable experience, specifically plant management experience preferred
