Title: Medical Assistant

Directly Reports to: MA Team Lead
Hours: Full Time 40 hours
Schedule: Must be flexible. We are open Monday to Friday 7am to 8pm and Saturday 7am to 5pm
Location: Must be willing to work in the Midtown Manhattan Location when it opens at the end of the year. You will be trained in the Forest Hill location until that the time.

Job Purpose:
The Medical Assistant will support the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of our providers. Some specific duties will include interviewing patients, preparing the treatment room for patient examinations, measuring vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), recording information on patients' charts, and drawing blood samples from patients to prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Assist providers with patient treatments/procedures, department-specific therapies; keep up-to-date on latest treatments.
- Willingness to be trained and assist providers for procedures
- Set-up, clean, and maintain exam rooms, bathrooms, and utility areas daily.
- Collect appropriate lab samples; Prepare and label specimens with required clinical data; ensure timely delivery of specimens to appropriate designation.
- Record patient vital signs in electronic chart, perform phlebotomy duties, and inform patients of provider recommendations.
- Coordinate patient flow with the provider, biller, and front desk team to ensure a positive patient experience.
- Assist in emergencies as directed by providers.
- Continuously file all patient information in electronic charts; scan lab and operative results into patients' files prior to follow-up visits.
- Maintain adequate inventory of pharmaceutical samples, clinical supplies, sterile and non-sterile equipment, and linens.
- Routinely remove expired samples and medical supplies.
- Secure medical record number from appropriate hospital (if necessary).
- Comply with all HIPAA regulations, compliances, and safety guidelines.
Qualifications:
- 1 to 2 years of experience as a Medical Assistant preferred but new Medical Assistants encouraged to apply
- Medical assistant certificate or 2-year Medical Assistant Associates degree Required
- Phlebotomy experience preferred
- Must be flexible in work schedule; i.e. weekends, mornings, and afternoons.
