Job Title: Lab Team Lead

Job Summary:
The Lab Team Lead takes the lead role in VMRD product manufacturing and is responsible for supervising manufacturing personnel.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follows all policies, protocols, regulatory guidelines, and SOPs; Develops and updates SOPs as needed
- Manufactures ELISA kits (plate coating, optimization)
- Cultures cells, viruses, bacteria, microorganisms
- Purifies proteins via salt precipitation, ion exchange chromatography, size restriction, affinity matrix
- Evaluates proteins via BCA quantitation, spectrophotometric analysis, Conjugates proteins
- Makes buffers (sterile filtration, dilutions, pools)
- Runs and interprets assays: IFA, AGID, ELISA, RID
- Performs in-process quality control and monitoring
- Packages and labels product
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of work performed
- Calibrates, operates and maintains equipment
- Analyzes and interprets data
- Troubleshoots and identifies areas for process improvement
- Mentors Manufacturing Assistants, Manufacturing Techs, and Manufacturing Scientists
- Works with R&D to transfer new technology
- As a supervisory role, interviews, hires, and trains new staff and provides constructive and ongoing feedback and coaching for development
- Other duties as assigned

Desired Qualifications and Experiences:
- 3 years' experience in a laboratory environment
- Previous supervisory experience
Education, Licenses and Certifications:
- Bachelor's degree in biological science field; Advanced degree preferred
Physical Requirements for the Job:
- Must be able to lift 50lbs; Must be able to remain in a stationary position 70% of the time
- Periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Pay Range Data:
- The pay range for this position is $24.00-$31.00 per hour. We are open to reviewing additional candidates with more or less experience and the pay range may differ if filled at a different level. Our pay ranges are determined by job responsibility and regional benchmarks. The wage listed is just one component of VMRD's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include bonuses.
