What are the responsibilities and job description for the Member of Technical Staff position at VMware?
Duties: Perform design, development, unit testing, debugging and implementation of next generation cutting edge cloud-based computing software platforms, security products and solutions to deliver solid code and working applications for highly scalable distributed systems or infrastructure product development under the general instruction of leadership. Develop significant components to solve ambiguities and maintain subsystem stability and improve the performance with optimized data modeling and processing. Maintain technical acumen in key technology areas to guide the evolution of our software platforms. Participate and contribute to the development of innovative solutions for complex problems in cloud computing environments. Define and implement integrated networking functionalities for Cloud platforms. Perform in-depth root cause analysis, implement code fixes and improvements requested by customers from requirements gathering phase through delivery.
Requirements: Master's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related technical/quantitative field. In the alternative, employer will accept Bachelor's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related technical/quantitative field and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or related position.
Employer requires at least five (5) of the following skills gained through industry experience or academic coursework:
- building software solutions in an engineering environment using c, c , python, java, matlab, shell scripting or javascript;
- testing enterprise applications;
- data structures and algorithms;
- network analysis, debugging and troubleshooting, using tools such as wireshark, network simulator, selenium or git;
- object oriented design (ood) and object-oriented programming (oop);
- virtualization, cloud computing or storage technologies;
- os kernel internals, including memory management, resource management, or interrupt architecture;
- rdbms such as mysql, postgresql, or nosql databases.
