What are the responsibilities and job description for the Server position at voco St James Hotel?
We're looking for someone who is customer service orientated and willing to be a part of a great team! The cafe is located in a boutique 84 room IHG hotel in the CBD. This position includes hourly and tips.
Responsibilities:
- Greet and seat guests in a friendly and timely manner
- Take food and drink orders accurately and efficiently
- Provide recommendations on menu items and answer any questions about the menu
- Deliver food and beverages to tables in a timely manner
- Ensure guest satisfaction by checking in with them throughout their dining experience
- Assist with food preparation and plating when needed
- Clear and clean tables after guests have finished their meals
- Handle guest concerns or complaints with professionalism and escalate to management if necessary
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure smooth service flow
Skills:
- Strong hospitality skills with a focus on providing excellent guest service
- Knowledge of food preparation and safe food handling practices
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Experience using Aloha POS or similar point-of-sale systems is a plus
- Basic math skills for handling payments and making change accurately
- Culinary knowledge to answer questions about ingredients, dietary restrictions, etc.
- Excellent time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively
- Strong communication skills to interact with guests and team members
- Ability to work well under pressure and maintain a positive attitude
- Experience bussing tables is preferred but not required
