SUPERVISES: Fund Development and Events Staff CLASSIFICATION: EXEMPT
HOURS: 40 Hours some evenings and weekend
Voices for Children Advocacy Center serves as a voice and advocate for children throughout Genesee and Shiawassee Counties. The center provides crucial support to child survivors of abuse and neglect, along with their families, and focuses on prevention efforts for children in the community. Through education, empowerment, and community engagement, Voices for Children Advocacy Center intervenes to break the cycle of abuse and ensure the well-being of children.

General Description: The Fund Development Director is responsible for leading and implementing comprehensive fundraising strategies to support the mission and programs of Voices for Children Advocacy Center. The successful candidate will cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, secure major gifts, oversee fundraising events, review grant opportunities, and ensure effective donor stewardship practices.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies to support the center’'s mission and programs.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with existing and prospective donors, including individuals, foundations, corporations, and other stakeholders.
- Identify and solicit major gifts from individuals and organizations, with a focus on securing gifts larger than $25,000.
- Conduct thorough research to identify potential funding opportunities, grant prospects, and partnership possibilities.
- Collaborate with the President and CEO to develop and implement effective donor stewardship and recognition programs.
- Plan and coordinate fundraising events, campaigns, and initiatives to engage the community and increase donor support.
- Prepare compelling grant proposals, solicitation materials, and other written communication for fundraising purposes.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of fundraising efforts, track fundraising metrics, and provide regular reports to the executive team and board of directors.
- Draft appeals and informationals for donors and community partners.
- Stay informed about fundraising trends, best practices, and legal requirements, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
- Schedule and lead donor tours to showcase the impact of their contributions.
- Attend community events and speaking engagements on behalf of the center.
- Manage the donor databas.
- Supervise Development and Events team.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in fund development, with a strong emphasis on donor stewardship and successfully raising major gifts exceeding $50,000.
- Demonstrated track record of building and maintaining relationships with high-net-worth individuals, foundations, and corporate partners.
- Strong understanding of fundraising principles and techniques, including donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and persuade diverse audiences.
- Experience in grant writing and grant management is preferred.
- Proficiency in using fundraising software and donor management systems.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Commitment to the mission and values of Voices for Children Advocacy Center.

- This position is expected to raise $180k plus in donor and corporate partners
Skills, knowledge, and abilities requirements: Nonprofit experience, communication, website, social media, fundraising, special events, content marketing, Microsoft office suite, social media, fund development.
Employees must be able to gracefully manage a variety of emotions under stressful situations and be able to facilitate interactions with clients, families and caregivers who may be very upset. Emotional stability and personal maturity are essential.
Other Requirements: The physical environment is an office building. The position requires the ability to sit at a desk, work on a computer and do some light lifting. Pursuant to the hiring policies of Voices for Children Advocacy Center: All VCAC employees must complete and pass a criminal background check, Michigan and National Sex Offender Registry Check and Central Registry check with the Department of Health and Human Services before hire. Employees will have their backgrounds screened annually. Any employee who has not resided in the state of Michigan for at least 10 years prior to hiring must sign a waiver attesting to the fact that they have never been convicted of a felony or identified as a perpetrator. Persons who have assaultive, child abuse, or criminal sexual conduct charges or convictions are not eligible for employment with VCAC. Felony
convictions and other misdemeanors convictions will be reviewed by the Executive Committee for hire or continued employment.
