WHAT ARE THE HOURS?
The schedule for this position is part-time and based on your availability.
WHAT DOES YOUR DAY ENTAIL?
As a Forensic Examiner, you play a crucial role in the legal system by conducting court-ordered evaluations to assess whether or not an individual is fit/competent for trial. These evaluations help inform decisions regarding issues such as the insanity defense. In cases involving juveniles, you perform basic psychological evaluations, diagnose any conditions, and make treatment recommendations. Sometimes, you may also conduct psychosexual evaluations to assess the risk of future offending and recommend appropriate levels of treatment.
In addition to your evaluation duties, you provide vital administrative support, including scheduling, billing paperwork, and communication with attorneys and courts, handled through the support of VBH staff. Reimbursement for completed evaluations is available, contingent upon reimbursement by the TDMHSAS, with the amount varying based on the procedures conducted during the evaluation. Your expertise and dedication ensure that the legal system receives thorough and reliable assessments, contributing to fair and just outcomes for those involved!
ARE YOU THE RIGHT PERSON FOR THE JOB?
To qualify, you need a doctorate-level degree in psychology with a health service provider designation in Tennessee as a psychologist.
