Water Jet Operator

Description

Summary

The position of Waterjet Operator will be responsible for performing complex, waterjet operations, interpreting blueprints and drawings, setting up and operating all waterjet/fabrication equipment. Must have familiarity with hand tools, polishing and cleaning parts, inspecting deburred parts, operating material handling equipment and performing assembly operations as assigned. In addition, provide necessary technical support with preventative maintenance of waterjet components. 

Essential Functions  

1. Interprets complicated aerospace drawings and specifications.
2. Uses various types of machine tools, precision measurement tools, and various hand tools.
3. Ability to polish, clean, break edges and produce a matte finish on precision machined parts made of a variety of materials to specified requirements and tolerances.
4. Deburr and clean (smooth) manufacturing components or products for safety, visual and functional purposes using a variety of tools (including a borescope, angle hole machines, drill presses, and hand grinders) and procedures.
5. Performs rework assignments as required.
6. Works from travelers, set up sheets, drawings and/or verbal instructions as well as exercising judgment and experience to plan and accomplish goals.  
7. Provide assistance and guidance with repairs and preventative maintenance. 
8. Positions parts and subassemblies by using templates or reading measurements. 

Requirements

Required:

1. Ability to apply an understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved oral or written instructions.
2. Must be flexible, dependable, time conscious, and be able to move from project to project with minimal supervision.
3. Set up and operate band saws, surface grinders, industrial trucks, hoist/crane equipment, etc.
4. Experience running the Flow machine with flow cut.
5. The ability to operate Waterjet Machine in accordance with drawing requirements.
6. Run Flow path and Flow nest software on machine’s computer.
7. Knowledge in use of hand tools (drill motors, grinders, basic measurement Instruments, etc.)
8. Ability to lift and carry objects weighing from 15 to 50 pounds.
9. Ability to create programs and nests from models and 2D files using Flow software.
10. Ability to troubleshoot repairs and assist with preventative maintenance practices. Including holding knowledge with intensifiers (pumps). 
11. Ability to operate overhead cranes (with proper lifting equipment) and forklifts. 
12. Education: High school diploma or equivalent experience is required

Preferred: 

1. Minimum six years’ experience in Waterjet Operation; including prior experience in Aerospace/Manufacturing setting.
