What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Canvasser position at Vote Blue?

We need strong leadership in the Senate. Someone who will advocate for a living wage, reduce tax burdens on hard-working Mainers, protect communities from health crises, and fight to expand Medicare. Sara Gideon is the right candidate for the State of Maine. Join us in helping her get elected this fall on this exciting campaign in collaboration with Family Friendly Action PAC. Door-to-door canvassers will engage with community members in a friendly and safe way to inform them of Gideon’s political background and plans for the future of Maine. 

We have experience doing this work during the COVID19 pandemic and have developed strict health and safety protocols that include a contactless approach to keep our staff and communities safe - we provide all of the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) you will need!

We are hiring immediately, all positions run through early November with possibilities for advancement afterward. Shifts run from 1:30 pm - 8:30 pm weekdays, and 10:30 am-5:30 pm on weekends with the possibility to work part-time or full-time.

Canvasser Responsibilities ($20 - 23/hr):

- Engage with the public in a friendly and professional manner

- Deliver a compelling script, and collect complete survey answers from voters

- Strictly follow the campaign's safety protocols, including the use of PPE and compliance with daily health and safety guidelines

The ideal candidate is:

-Charismatic, energetic, and passionate about progressive politics and fostering democracy

-Experienced with providing customer service; you should enjoy working with other people and be willing to speak with everyone

-Goal-oriented, determined, motivated and able to see the bigger picture

Prior canvassing experience is a plus but not required.

Pay and Benefits: Base pay is $20/hr for canvassers and $22/hr for Team Leaders. Staff who work an average of 30 hours/week during a two-week pay period will earn a $150 bonus, drivers receive an additional $20/day driver bonus and everyone receives a $5/day bonus for using their own smartphone while working. We also paid training, sick pay, and bonuses for friend referrals ($75/referral). All full-time staff have the option to opt into our company healthcare plan.
