Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated individual to join our finance team as an Associate Accountant. The Associate Accountant will be responsible for assisting with various accounting tasks, ensuring the accuracy of financial records, and supporting the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, with additional responsibilities including risk management, insurance/insurance claim management, state reporting and state sales tax reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
· Financial Recordkeeping: Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
· Month-End Close: Participate in the month-end close process by preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and assisting with financial statement preparation.
· Financial Analysis: Support financial analysis efforts by gathering data, preparing reports, and assisting with variance analysis to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
· Compliance and Auditing: Ensure compliance with accounting principles, company policies, and regulatory requirements. Assist with internal and external audit processes as needed.
· Risk Management: Assist in identifying, assessing, and managing financial risks to minimize potential losses and ensure compliance with risk management policies.
· Insurance Claim Management: Coordinate with insurance providers and internal stakeholders to manage insurance claims, including documentation, communication, and follow-up.
· Insurance Management: Support the administration of insurance policies, including renewals, updates, and communication with insurance brokers.
· State Reporting: Prepare and submit required financial reports to state authorities in compliance with regulatory guidelines and deadlines.
· State Sales Tax Reporting: Manage the preparation and filing of state sales tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
· Approvals in Accounting Software: Review and process approval requests within accounting software systems, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies.
· Customer and Vendor Setup: Assist in the setup and maintenance of customer and vendor accounts, ensuring completeness and accuracy of information.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- 1-2 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, SAP).
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- CPA certification or progress toward certification is a plus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
