Construction Superintendent

VPG Construction is a full service general contractor operating in the Greater New Orleans region. We are currently looking for a site superintendent that can manage multiple projects simultaneously . The ideal candidate will be well versed in the following:

• Assist with procurement and subcontractor negotiations
• Keep daily field logs
• Client and subcontractor interface
• Project schedule – Microsoft Projects
• Weekly progress meetings with owners
• Weekly coordination and schedule meetings with subcontractors
• Schedule subcontractors and vendors to ensure timely completion
• Monitor subcontractor production and work progress against construction schedule
• Manage material ordering and deliveries
• Ability to recognize drawing conflicts and field issues and submit RFI’s to design team
• Maintain a clean jobsite
• All superintendent functions

Qualifications:

The Ideal candidate will have 5 - 7 years of experience in a Supervisory capacity in managing similar construction projects. He/she will ideally have extensive experience in retail grocery, mixed use retail and commercial projects. Specific experience and skills requirements of the position are:

• Strong communication and motivational skills.
• Excellent supervisory and field coordination skills.
• Computer literate with emphasis on Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, Outlook and MS operating systems
• Clear Oral communications skills, English and Spanish a plus.
• Knowledge of Cal OSHA safety requirements.
• Thoroughly knowledgeable in interpretation of drawings, specifications.
• Comprehensive knowledge of divisions of work.

• Ability to be an initiative-taker and have strong time management skills.
• Ability to work well under pressure, multi-task and handle multiple priorities.
• Ability and willingness to exert disciplinary action as needed as well as delegate authority.
• Ability to work both with minimal supervision and as a team player.

Requirements

• Ability to pass criminal background check, and drug screening.
• Possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a good driving record.
• Ability to be insured as an authorized driver for the Company.
• Ability to work any time or day of the week, including weekends and holidays.
