SUMMARY: The Component Technician is responsible for repair and overhaul aviation accessory components while maintaining a safe work environment. The technician will perform maintenance and alteration tasks on civil aviation articles in accordance with the current technical data provided in the manufacturers’ Instructions for Continued Airworthiness, Services Bulletins, service letters, Airworthiness Directives, government and industry standard practices, and other data acceptable to or approved by the FAA.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Disassemble and assemble a few aviation components including brakes, wheels, and oxygen lines.
- Utilize hand tools daily.
- Work with highly combustible oxygen element.
- Utilize specialty tools for precision measurements daily.
- Read and interpret technical data and drawings.
- Ensure all work performed in accordance with approved technical and regulatory data.
- Generate data plates for components completed with use of a laser system.
- Document maintenance records of all repair work orders performed.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (INCLUDES EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, COMPETENCIES), ETC.):
- High School Diploma/GED equivalent.
- 2-3 years of relevant/technical work experience.
- Strong knowledge of oxygen container assemblies, oxygen filler valves, oxygen pressure regulators, oxygen box assemblies, and oxygen stowage box.
- Mechanical aptitude.
- Be detail oriented and organized.
- The ability to teardown, inspect, parts requisition, assemble, test, troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul aviation components.
- Be flexible to changing workloads/priorities based on customer requirements.
- Maintain an orderly and productive work environment.
- Ability to function in fast paced environment while maintaining a high level of quality.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and data required.
- Willing to work additional hours when operational objectives require it.
- Ability to prioritize and to work without close supervision.
- Basic computer operating skills.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS (INCLUDES PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, COMPETENCIES), ETC.):
- 3-4 years of relevant/technical experience in the aviation industry.
- Knowledge of brakes, wheel, and oxygen aviation accessories preferred.
OTHER (INCLUDE LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, SECURITY CLEARANCE, TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS, ETC.):
- The selected applicant will be subject to a background check and drug testing.
