What are the responsibilities and job description for the Retirement Plan Analyst position at VSP?

Individual responsible for the accurate administration of the VSP and related entities qualified retirement plans; ensures administrative processes, procedures, and controls facilitate effective administration and service delivery. Responsible for program compliance with company policies and controls, and with the laws, regulations, and rules issued or enforced by state, federal and foreign regulatory authorities on the subject of program administration, reporting, disclosures, and filing requirements. Develops, executes, and supervises projects in partnership with legal, finance, accounting, payroll, communications, and other company professionals. Responsible for the accurate administration of qualified retirement plans through third-party record keepers, trustees, actuaries, and consultants Oversee plan administrative activities for existing and acquired entities; provide guidance and work direction to payroll staff and HRBP partners at acquired companies Responsible for working with multiple payroll providers and performing reconciliation between payroll and amounts posted to retirement plans. Review the timeliness of contribution and loan repayment deposits. Review payroll pay codes to ensure correct eligible compensation as defined in the plan document Establish, maintain, and foster relationships with third-party record keepers, trustees, actuaries, consultants, and internal businesses partners Ensure compliance with company policies and controls, and with the laws, regulations, and rules issued or enforced by state, Federal, and foreign regulatory authorities on the subject of program administration, reporting, disclosure, and filing requirements Ensure program policies, procedures, and provisions are documented, effective, and followed. Recommend and implement changes to reduce incidence of error Resolve issues. Ensures consistent application of provisions and compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Escalates issues to management team as needed to assure prompt and accurate resolution. Identifies root cause of issues and leads issue resolution efforts Oversees the preparation and submission of IRS/DOL filings; assists with the preparation, review, and distribution of plan notices Oversees non-discrimination testing activities including requesting, reviewing, and reconciling census data to master control totals used for testing Main point of contact for internal and external audits. Will be responsible for attending all meetings and pulling required information for the auditors as well as implementing process improvements as a result of audit findings Ensure plan documents and materials are timely and accurately amended Approves payment of plan expenses and use of forfeitures Collaborates with the Benefits leadership team on the implementation of new plans, program features, and changes to plans and/or administrative procedures Oversees the merger of acquired plans into the core VSP retirement plans as necessary Interacts with third-party vendors and internal team to ensure appropriate levels of performance. Periodically reviews internal and third-party activities for quality Reviews communication drafts for accuracy, detail, and completeness Responsible for plan reporting and analysis Prepares documentation of change needs and assists with the review and testing of related materials and systems Participates in retirement special projects Stays up to date on trends and developments related to qualified and nonqualified retirement plans Job Specifications Typically has the following skills or abilities: Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience 4 years of administration/analyst experience with qualified retirement plans Plan sponsor, consulting, or administration experience with nonqualified plans Technical knowledge of administrative practices and all pertinent federal and state regulations affecting retirement programs Experience managing outsourced service providers Skilled user of MS-Office tools - Word, Excel, PowerPoint Ability to regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of his/her job duties. #LI-REMOTE #LI-VISIONCARE Compensation range for the role is listed below. Applicable salary ranges may differ across markets. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
