What are the responsibilities and job description for the Network Support Specialist position at VTG?
VTG is seeking a Network Support Specialist in Patuxent River, MD to install, configure, and support an air vehicles local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and Internet systems or a segment of a network system on the Presidential Helicopters Support Program.
What will you do?
Identifies, analyzes, and maintains configuration of cybersecurity vulnerabilities of laboratory and operational avionics to support WHCA and OGA TS/SCI service providers.
Provides operation Mission Communication Suite (MCS) system trouble shooting, check out and validation for aircraft Configurations.
Monitors network to ensure network availability to all system users and may perform necessary maintenance to support network availability.
Provides network engineering to support laboratory and TS/SCI operational networks in support of the MCS development test and sustainment.
- Monitors air vehicle system performance to ensure operation functions correctly and without interruption and will troubleshoot faults to determine malfunctions on aircraft avionic components and electrical system components such as airborne navigation and communication systems, weather radar, compass systems and accessories down to the component level.
- Uses various electronic support benches, such as a Consolidated Automated Support System (CASS) bench, to facilitate troubleshooting and repair of aircraft systems as required.
Do you have what it takes?
- Education: Bachelor’s college degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Sciences. In lieu, an Associate’s degree with four (4) years of relevant experience may be substituted.
- Experience: A minimum of six (6) years of relevant experience in the field of Computer Sciences which includes systems installation, configuration, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair. Familiarity with NAWC-AD and relevant programs desired. Experience in relevant aircraft/systems preferred. A&P License/FAA Certification preferred. Experience with military rotary aviation preferred.
- Security Clearance: Must be eligible to obtain a Top Secret clearance and YW access.
- All personnel must be U. S. citizens.
- Individuals released from Military Service with other than “Honorable Discharges” do not meet minimum qualifications.
