Arwood Machine seeks an Accounting Manager for our Newburyport, MA location.
Job Purpose
As an Accounting Manager at Arwood Machine, Newburyport, MA, you will be in our accounting function, which a third-party service provider currently manages. VulcanForms Inc. is a manufacturer of complex, high value engineered components in serial production at the world's most powerful additive foundry. This is a small team and you will have the opportunity to help scale our accounting systems and processes. You will have the chance to work with a fast-paced team in a rapidly growing organization.
Key Accountabilities
- Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, and Taxes.
- Establish internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation.
- Oversee the production of periodic financial reports; ensure that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards.
- Audit accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations; coordinate with outside auditors; and provide needed information for the annual external audit.
- Present recommendations to management on short- and long-term financial objectives and policies.
- Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies, and principles.
- Assess current practices and procedures and make recommendations for improvements.
- Responsible for tax planning throughout the fiscal year and assisting in filing the annual corporate tax return.
- Provides financial analysis with an emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
- Develop staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, and maintaining strong employee relationships.
- Establish and maintain digital files and records to document transactions.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
- Perform ad hoc duties, analysis and projects as requested.
Qualifications
- At least 7 years of Accounting Manager experience, preferably in the manufacturing industry,
- Familiarity with leading ERP/MRP systems, Epicor preferred.
- Excellent knowledge of Financial Statements, Balance Sheets, and General Ledgers.
- Ability to work in a situation requiring attention to detail, coupled with a high level of multitasking and prioritization needed to meet aggressive deadlines.
- Strong sense of ownership.
- Ability to direct and supervise.
