ROLE OVERVIEW
- The Bovine Reproductive Specialist (DVM) is an integral part of our global team to help bring certainty to genetic progress in livestock. The DVM will perform ovum pickup procedures, embryo transfers, and work alongside team members to perform all duties associated with embryo production, data entry, and communication while adhering to Vytelle standard operating procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Complete Vytelle’s specialized training program designed to prepare team members for in-field veterinary work; travel to training sites as needed
- Work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Adheres to standard operating procedures (SOPs), processing directives, production standards, polices and health and safety directives and regulations
- Maintain flexibility for working hours as IVF processes are time-dependent
- Follow established Ovum Pickup (OPU) processes including equipment set up/calibration, animal preparation, maintaining a sanitary work field, oocyte aspiration, documentation, and all other tasks associated with the procedure
- Assist client and fellow teammates with recipient synchrony questions
- Embryo transfer procedures following standard operating procedures
- Maintain embryo production data records
- Establish and maintain AETA (American Embryo Transfer Association) membership and certification
- Oversee the certification and compliance of the embryo laboratory for export purposes

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent
- Industry knowledge and a strong passion for IVF and/or eagerness to learn and commit
- Previous laboratory experience in an academic and/or professional setting
- Knowledge of oocyte, sperm and embryo biology
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Travel as appropriate, up to 80% of work week
- Ability to work long days (up to 14 hours) seasonally
- Ability to lift 50lbs
- Ability to remain on feet for long periods of time
- Healthy and reliable back, shoulder, arm, hand and ability to manipulate bovine reproductive tracts
- Valid Driver’s License and ability to operate vehicles
