Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement inventory management strategies and procedures to optimize inventory levels and minimize stockouts and excess inventory.
- Monitor inventory levels and perform regular analysis to identify trends, forecast demand, and determine appropriate reorder points.
- Collaborate with purchasing and procurement teams to ensure timely procurement of materials and supplies based on inventory requirements.
- Conduct regular inventory audits to ensure accuracy, identify discrepancies, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Utilize inventory management software or systems to track inventory movement, stock levels, and related data.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams to forecast and plan for upcoming projects, product launches, or promotions that may impact inventory levels.
- Analyze sales patterns and historical data to identify slow-moving or obsolete inventory and recommend appropriate actions, such as markdowns or inventory write-offs.
- Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors to optimize lead times, pricing, and terms of inventory procurement.
- Collaborate with warehouse and logistics teams to ensure efficient receiving, storage, and distribution of inventory.
- Train and mentor inventory control staff on best practices, procedures, and the effective use of inventory management systems.
- Generate regular reports on inventory levels, turnover, and other key performance indicators for management review.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Proven experience in inventory management or a related field, with a track record of successfully optimizing inventory processes.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data to make informed decisions.
- Proficiency in inventory management software or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to spot and resolve discrepancies.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various stakeholders, including suppliers, vendors, and internal teams.
- Knowledge of inventory control best practices and inventory management techniques.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
