Location: Fleet Integration and Readiness Engineering (FIRE) Lab, Dam Neck - Virginia Beach, VA
SUMMARY: WR has a need for a General Lab Technician to support the NAVSEA program in the production and maintenance of electronic systems and equipment.
Position responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Layouts, builds, installs, tests, troubleshoots, repairs, and modifies developmental and production electronic components, parts, equipment, and systems.
- Discusses layout and assembly procedures and problems with Electrical Engineer and draws sketches to clarify design details and functional criteria of electronic units.
- Assembles experimental circuitry (breadboard) or complete prototype model.
- Performs mechanical assembly and integration of equipment.
- Maintains configuration management practices across variant systems.
- Overseas Additive Manufacturing processes and depot level production efforts.
Candidates must possess the following knowledge, skills, and experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Five (5) years of progressive experience performing work in support of production, integration, installation, repair, troubleshooting, or maintenance of electronic systems or equipment.
- Two (2) years of progressive experience as a technician performing work, which required advanced technical knowledge to solve unusually complex problems, a detailed understanding of the interrelationships of circuits, 2M repair, and exercising independent judgment in performing tasks.
- 3D Printing experience preferred.
The selected candidate will be required to pass a pre-employment third-party background check which may include verification of any of the following: Employment history; Education and/or certifications; Criminal history; Driving Records; Other records or information related to the candidate’s suitability for the position.
