Our client is a prominent EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) group specializing in substation and transmission engineering, alongside project management. With $50 million in projects already secured for 2025, the company is on a strong growth trajectory and is seeking an accomplished leader to drive further expansion in 2025 and 2026.
Position Overview: We are searching for a visionary Director of Operations & Growth who will report directly to the President. This role is pivotal to the company’s continued success and requires a dynamic leader with a robust background in business development, operations, and engineering. The successful candidate will focus on expanding the company’s presence with Independent Operating Units (IOUs) and other key clients while enhancing internal operations to support this growth.
Location: Ideally, the candidate will be based in Texas. However, for the right candidate, this role can be performed remotely, with the expectation of up to 25% travel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Partner with the President to execute the company’s growth strategy, ensuring alignment with long-term objectives.
- Operational Management: Oversee the operations team, including substation engineers, transmission engineers, and project management staff, ensuring high performance and efficiency.
- Business Development: Lead efforts to expand the company’s client base, particularly focusing on IOUs and other high-potential clients. Identify and secure new business opportunities.
- Growth Strategy: Develop and implement strategies to significantly increase project bookings for 2025 and 2026.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project delivery and maintain high client satisfaction.
- Market Intelligence: Monitor industry trends and competitive dynamics to position the company as a leader in the market.
- Culture of Excellence: Cultivate a culture of innovation, excellence, and continuous improvement within the operations team.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Proven experience in a senior operations and business development role, preferably within the EPC or energy sector.
- Track Record: Strong history of securing and managing large-scale projects, particularly with IOU clients.
- Technical Knowledge: Extensive understanding of substation and transmission engineering, along with a solid grasp of the associated technical and regulatory environments.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and motivate high-performing teams.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal abilities.
- Strategic Vision: A strategic thinker with a strong focus on results.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a related field is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
Compensation:
- Base Salary: $190,000 - $220,000, with potential to increase up to $250,000 for candidates with exceptional experience who can demonstrate the ability to exceed expectations.
