Summary of Primary Functions: Analyzes contract documents, plans, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to costs associated with precast concrete scope by performing essential duties as listed below.
Supervision Received: Reports to Division VP & GM; Independent and strategic supervision received
Supervisory Responsibilities: Division Estimators
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Education: Associate degree (2 years) and experience/training or equivalent is required.
Experience: 7 to 10 years prior or related experience and education or equivalent is required.
Supervisory Experience: 2 - 4 years of similar Supervisory experience is required.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- All employees are required to follow all Safety and Quality rules and processes to ensure a safe working environment, and the production of high-quality products.
- Reviews contract documents to determine precast scope of work. Types of projects would normally include parking garages, warehouses, schools, jails, prisons or other facilities requiring innovative concrete products.
- Perform accurate takeoff of precast components
- Utilize Excel spreadsheets to determine plant, freight, and field operations costs associated with the project.
- Prepares estimates to be used by management, sales, planning, engineering, and field operations in scheduling work, preparing bids; contracting vendors or subcontractors, and determining cost effectiveness
- Understands engineering concepts regarding general structural concepts, connections, component limitations, and constructability.
- Coordinate with engineering and project management to track evolution of the project that was sold
- Conducts special studies to develop and establish standard hour and related cost date of effect cost reductions
- Consults with clients, vendors, or other individuals to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues as requested by Sales personnel
- Interfaces with other individuals in the organization to obtain support and commitment to cost estimates.
- Visualize and/or create 3-D precast concept from 2-D contract drawings
- Perform cost analysis of precast framing systems, value engineering options, and other solutions as required.
- Organizes and manages a centralized cost estimating database and a formal process to support cost estimating to all historical data
- Analyzes completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs and determine the reason for any discrepancies
- Follow up with Field and Trucking departments to ensure delivery of products
- Assess project to ensure feasibility and that it is a pre-cast project
- Provides improvement recommendations to cost estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costs
- Identifies costs trends to assist management in cost reduction and process improvement efforts
- Maintain relationships with Production to follow the process of the project
- May have access to confidential information including: Estimates
- Requires ability to make independent decisions including:
- Adjusting estimates as appropriate for approval
