General Duties
The NQA Manager responsibilities:
- Establish, maintain and serve as the SME for the company's quality management system.
- Train company personnel in the QMS and product standards.
- Plan and conduct internal and external quality program audits.
- Evaluate and interpret required project codes, standards and specifications
- Collaborate with customers to ensure implementation of their product quality requirements.
- Participate in project quality planning and evaluation
- Participate in the supplier selection process. This includes reviewing and approving the documents submitted by suppliers.
- Write or approve work instructions, procedures, create forms.
- Provide oversite for the document and records control system.
- Provide Software QA support for company operating systems
- Able to read, interpret, and understand technical drawing and data.
- Establish and implement Inspection and Test Plans.
- Manage the Nonconformance and Corrective Action systems.
- Manage the overall performance of the quality department
- Manage the QMS and participate in the evaluation of its effectiveness.
- Take appropriate corrective/preventative actions on identified problems.
- Maintain M&TE equipment & required calibrations as required
- Ensure that quality control procedures are being implemented during the fabrication process.
- Regularly perform surveillance of on-going work activities
- Perform Supplier and External/Internal Audits and maintain the schedule supplier audits and evaluations
- Prepare and conduct training for company and customer personnel
- Plan, prepare, and participate in commercial grade dedication activities including approving, planning, inspecting, and accepting items.
- Participate in the assessment of project risks and determination of quality controls (FMEA)
- Exercise a questioning attitude
- QA management representative during customer and regulatory audits
- Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Must be able to stand on their feet or sit in one position for eight hours.
- Possess the manual dexterity skills appropriated for the job
- Must be able to work 40 hrs. per week and have the flexibility to work overtime as needed.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, understand specifications and multi-discipline inspection requirements.
- Physical requirements include capability of reading Jager J1 and having color vision
- Must be able to communicate professionally and inter-personally across all levels of the company, suppliers and customers.
- Ability to work independently with a high degree of autonomy and accountability
- Able to prioritize and multi-task program elements across several active projects
- Maintain a professional business attitude in dealing with internal and external personnel and stakeholders
- Bachelor's or Associate degree in an applicable discipline with a minimum of 2 years construction /fabrication experience, or
- High School diploma with minimum 5 years as a Quality Engineer or Level II or III Quality Inspector experience.
- Experience in the nuclear industry, NRC or DOE regulatory requirements required
- Must be able to read and write English.
- American citizenship is required, a background investigation will be performed
- Should have working knowledge of NQA-1 including appropriate documentation practices and DOE 414.1D Quality Assurance.
- Writing technical documents, inspection reports, and preparing adequate responses to corrective actions, non-conformance's, or similar documents.
- Should be experienced with Corrective and Preventive Actions, Non-conformance processes, Document Control, Control of Records, Risk Analysis/FMEA type analysis
- Experienced in preparing and leading audits and assessments.
- Have working knowledge of welding, NDE inspection, testing, packaging and labeling requirements, and quality system records.
