wastewater/stormwater solutions, public bids and specifications, and more!

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Permitting Specialist to join our team. The

successful candidate will play a critical role in securing necessary permits for various client projects,

ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. This role involves working closely with

project managers, engineers, clients, and regulatory agencies to navigate the permitting process

efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Permit Acquisition
  • Research and identify necessary permits and approvals required for various civil

engineering projects including but limited to DEP, Conservation Commission, Chapter 91,

Army Corp. of Engineers, Special Permits (Zoning Board of Appeals/ZBA), and Planning

Board applications.

  • Prepare and submit permit applications to relevant local, state, and federal agencies, e.g.

Notice of Intent (NOI) filings

  • Track the status of submitted permit applications and follow up with agencies as needed

to ensure timely approval.

  • Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure all projects comply with applicable environmental, zoning, and construction

regulations.

  • Conduct thorough reviews of regulatory requirements and communicate necessary

actions to project teams.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in relevant laws and regulations.
  • Attend public hearings to present projects for the Owner/Applicant.
  • Documentation and Reporting
  • Compile and maintain comprehensive records of all permits, approvals, and related

documentation.

  • Prepare detailed reports on the status of permits and compliance activities for internal

and external stakeholders.

  • Stakeholder Communication
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between the firm, our clients, and regulatory

agencies.

  • Coordinate meetings and consultations with regulatory officials, project managers,

engineers, and clients.

  • Address inquiries and concerns from regulatory agencies and ensure prompt resolution

of issues.

  • Training and Best Practices
  • Provide training and guidance to project teams on permitting requirements and best

practices.

  • Develop and implement internal procedures for efficient permit management and

compliance monitoring.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Wetlands Biology, Civil Engineering,

or a related field.

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in permitting, regulatory compliance, or a related role

within the civil engineering or construction industry.

  • Wetlands Delineation abilities and experience a plus!
  • Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal permitting processes and regulations.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple

projects simultaneously.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with online permitting submissions and

databases.

  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience with GIS and related software for data analysis and mapping.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
