Purpose of the Position:

Promote Student-Athletes to the community and greater community
-
Foster a student first attitude with coaches, athletes, and all key stakeholders
-
Implement a study table program to assist student-athletes with academic achievement

Head Varsity Coaching Experience

Strong organizational and leadership skills

Knowledge of school law

Excellent communication skills both oral and written
Essential Functions of the Position: The following functions have been determined by Wa-Nee Community Schools to be essential to the successful performance of this position.

Supervise and direct all interscholastic athletic programs Supervise and assist all coaches
-
Recommend candidates for all coaching positions
-
Assist in the promotion of good athletic relationships in the community
-
Help supervise crowd control at ECA’s
-
Coordinate the supervision of all home athletic events
-
Coordinate the travel arrangements for all away events
-
Evaluate all athletic coaches and cheerleader sponsors
-
Be responsible for the scheduling of all contests
-
Schedule and contract all officials for home athletic events
-
Conduct an annual coaches meeting
-
Ensure that meetings are held by coaches for each sport season
-
Ensure awards nights are held and/or awards are handed out for each sport season
-
Order or approve orders for all athletic supplies and equipment
-
Ensure organization and maintenance of uniform storage rooms by coaches
-
Attend monthly Booster Club Meetings (as needed)

Schedule all practices for interscholastic athletic programs
-
Maintain the school weight room
-
Prepare IHSAA entry lists
-
Ensure medical kits for each team
-
Ensure a file of athletic physicals packets and grade eligibility of all student-athletes
-
Prepare all purchase orders connected with the Athletic Department
-
Serve as the principal in the absence of the administration
-
Attend School Board meetings (as requested)
-
Work with the Director of Buildings and Grounds to determine needs for athletic facilities
Secondary Functions of the Position: The following functions, while important and necessary to the position, have been determined by Wa-Nee Community Schools to be marginal to the successful performance of this position.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed or as directed by the Building Principal or Superintendent.
