What are the responsibilities and job description for the EH&S Technician position at Wabash?
As an EH&S Tech, you will work on a variety of EH&S programs including encouraging compliance with regulations, providing guidance on safety measures, and communicating cross-functionally about incidents and expectations. Activities include, but are not limited to, risk management, internal audit, accident prevention, and hazardous waste management. This position is vital to maintaining the health and safety of all our workers at Wabash.
Your Responsibilities:
- Assist with maintaining EH&S programs that ensure compliance with federal, state, local regulations, and Wabash policies relating to safety and the environment
- Assist with and maintain all required environmental permits for the process, equipment, or discharges generated at the facility
- Provide guidance and support to management on EH&S issues
- Work closely with all levels of employees to establish, maintain, and improve EH&S programs
- Develop a thorough knowledge of equipment and materials used in the facility, including pollution control devices
- Promptly notify EH&S Manager and appropriate operations supervisor of potential enforcement issues, accidents, or control device malfunctions
- Aid in the timely preparation of required reports to regulatory agencies as requested
- Assist with procedures/SWIs to reduce safety/ environmental risks and to address emergency situations
- Review materials used by manufacturing operations and maintain SDS database
- Maintain a comprehensive and organized recordkeeping system so that the facility can verify compliance with all applicable regulations
- Ensure responsible parties are immediately notified of EH&S concerns and action is immediately taken
- As appropriate, assigned, retain, and oversee vendors, contractors dealing with EH&S issues
- Assist with and provide EH&S related training programs to ensure employee’s knowledge and understanding of environmental regulations and requirements
- Performing employee training as designated and assist with safety PPE selection and EH&S/Medical related routine supplies
- Fire Protection Systems operation, testing and record keeping Implement elements of the WNC Fire Prevention Plan
- Assist with annual property inspection sand record keeping
- Maintain fall protection equipment inventory and execute spill response and containment as needed
- Assist with development and review of Job Safety Analysis and Risk Assessment procedures
- Drives a proactive safety culture and positive behavior system
- Assist with site security activities
Preferred Requirements:
- Associate's/Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred Major: Health, Environmental Science, Industrial Science)
- Experience in accident prevention and first aid
