WACKER POLYMERS is the global technology leader in the development and production of redispersible powders, dispersions solid resins, powder binders and surface coating resins.
At our Allentown site, we are currently looking for a Chemist - Adhesives to be a part of our growing team.
This position will be focused on technical service, application development and product development for customers in the adhesives market for North America. This position will require significant time working in the laboratory. This role will be crucial in initiating, developing, and maintaining relationships between customers and Wacker from a technical perspective. This position will coordinate and work with R&D, production sites, business teams, EH&S, and the Sales team to grow profitable and sustainable business. In addition, this role has primary responsibility to maintain a safe work environment through establishing, implementing, and maintaining safe work practices in the team and in the technical community in general.
Job Responsibilities
- Leads and develops polymer technology and solutions for both dispersions and powders with an emphasis on the adhesives market
- Adheres to and promotes Wacker's safety policies, practices, and ISO procedures.
- Responds to technical service requests from customers and Wacker production sites
- Leads new product development for the adhesives group, manages projects, and supports adjacent teams as needed
- Performs lab experiments, documents testing and results, presents results and conclusions internally and externally in multiple mediums (e.g. verbal, reports, presentations). Represents Wacker from a technical perspective during meetings with production sites, internal technical groups, external customers, conferences and trade shows.

Job Qualifications
- BS degree in chemistry, engineering, mathematics, or similar scientific field.
- 4 years of adhesive related experience
- Proficient with Microsoft Office software.
- Organizational skills and follow-through are important to all aspects of this job. Prioritization and adapting to changing priorities are important in this role due to ever-changing customer and plant needs.
- Ability to work with customers in new or existing applications. It is necessary to adapt to specific customer needs, process setup, or final end use applications, to aid in the development of new products, or to solve customer or product problems.
- Experience documenting lab results in notebooks or using similar recording media.
- Experience working with dispersion-based dispersions
- Experience with characterization and analytical equipment is a plus (FT-IR, DMA, DSC, Instron testing)
