At our site in Charleston, we are currently looking for a Customs & Trade Compliance Agent to join our growing team.
Job Responsibilities
This position is responsible for customs and trade compliance, export control, administration of CTPAT Security, assisting with US Foreign Trade Zone coordination and special projects.
- Customs Compliance: Respond to oral and written requests for Customs and related information, providing solutions and answers to questions, working with internal customers i.e., CSR's, sales and marketing, procurement, accounting, legal, Customs specialists, shipping, and receiving. Audit of Customs entries, responding to inquiries from CBP and Partner Government Agencies. Conduct regulatory research and analysis, the tracking and monitoring of pending and/or proposed regulatory changes. Preparation of general and specialized Customs training presentations for specific internal customers, the drafting and updating of Customs compliance manuals, policies and procedures. Implementation of corrective actions, the review of contract language for consistency with incoterms, Import and export regulations. Work with US and overseas Wacker offices, Customs Brokers, Freight Forwarders and legal advisors.
- Export Control: Respond to oral and written requests for Export Control and related information providing solutions and answers to questions, working with internal customers i.e., CSR's, sales and marketing, procurement, accounting, HR, legal, Customs specialists, shipping, and receiving. Audit of Export documentation. Preparation of inquiries from WGER including quarterly Export Control reporting. Provide regulatory research and analysis, tracking and monitoring of pending and/or proposed regulatory changes including EAR, OFAC, ITAR and others. Preparation of general and specialized Export Control training presentations for specific internal customers, the drafting and updating of Export Control compliance manuals, policies and procedures. Implementation of corrective actions, the review of contract language for consistency with incoterms, Import and export regulations. Work with US and overseas Wacker offices, Customs Brokers, Freight Forwarders and legal advisors.
- Trade Compliance: Respond to oral and written requests for Export Control and related information providing solutions and answers to questions, working with internal customers i.e., CSR's, sales and marketing, procurement, accounting, HR, legal, Customs specialists, shipping, and receiving. Provide regulatory research and analysis, tracking and monitoring of pending and/or proposed regulatory changes including EPA TSCA, FDA Prior Notice, USTR Free Trade Agreements, AD/CVD research, USMCA, Korea FTA, Australia and others, GSP, Section 301 Tariffs on China, and the drafting of USITC petitions for the Miscellaneous Tariff Bill and tracking on pending legislation.
- CTPAT Security: Administration of Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism CTPAT for WCC and WPNA corporations. Assist in the implementation of CTPAT Best Practices including risk assessments, security audits, and all Minimum-Security Criteria including validation and annual Security Profiles. Communication with CBP Supply Chain Specialist, the drafting and updating of written procedures, preparation of general and specialized CTPAT training presentations for specific internal customers, the drafting and updating of CTPAT compliance manuals, policies and procedures. Supply Chain mapping and coordination of audits with Business divisions.
- US Foreign Trade Zones: Provide assistance and support to WCC and WPNA Foreign Trade Zone coordinators. Serving as a key liaison to Customs Brokers for service issues and software vendors. Work to improve process flow and timely, audit and submission of Customs and related documentation. Responsible for on-site security audit reviews by CBP, Annual Report to FTZ Board, Annual Letter to CBP, Annual Reconciliation Report and process mapping.
- Special Projects: MTB, Audit, Logistics and others
Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree, in Business, International Trade, Logistics, Government or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of position related experience.
- Customs Broker License, Certified Customs Specialist a plus but not required
- Less than 5% travel
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer proficiency including spreadsheet software, SAP, Tableau a plus
- Critical thinking and time management skills.
- Position also requires the ability to maintain multiple projects simultaneously.
